Ted Cruz Calls Houston Neighbors ‘A**holes After They Leaked Wife’s Cancun Texts During Texas Storm

The heat on Ted Cruz has been brutal this calendar year. His actions were entirely avoidable.

One would think it could not get worse for Cruz after objecting to an obvious win in the Electoral College, one that led to a previously inconceivable violent revolt and attempted coup. He ought to be ashamed and regretful.

He is not. Indeed, his attitude makes things worse for him.

A horrific storm bearing down on Texas actually gave him a chance to redeem himself. He could have stayed in Houston helping to organize rescue forces and the delivery of needed resources to the worst-hit areas. He literally could have saved lives. He also could have made desperate calls to federal officials high-up in the chain of command. He had the ability to call the type of people who could move fast and send equipment and personnel.

Instead, he pampered himself and abandoned his state by going to a beach in Cancun. In what looks like a furious reaction, one of his neighbors, “friends,” shared the text chain that Heidi Cruz started to organize the trip. Perhaps some of his neighbors stayed and might have been repulsed by such selfishness. We don’t know who shared Heidi’s texts with the New York Times but they exposed Cruz’s lies and made his situation that much worse.

Ted knows that the texts damaged him at a time when it seemed like nothing could make it worse and Ted is furious about it. During an appearance on the “Ruthless” podcast hosted by former Mitch McConnell campaign manager Josh Holmes, Ted angrily let it loose:

“I will say, Heidi was pretty pissed at that. She was over at the neighbor’s house yesterday, sort of walking through that… We have a number of Republicans who are neighbors but we also have a lot of Democrats, folks on our streets who put up Beto signs, which I thought was a little rude.”

Ted finds it rude for neighbors to show their support of someone else in a campaign? Unbelievable. No wonder he is the most hated guy in the Senate, and apparently the neighborhood.

Then Crus really lashed out.

“Here’s a suggestion: Just don’t be assh*les. Yeah, like, just, you know, treat each other as human beings have some degree, some modicum of respect.”

Was Ted talking about himself? Seriously, he is the United States Senator for Texas, which includes the neighborhood. Here is a suggestion; Winging off to Cancun and the beach disrespects the people of Texas! In fact, it would be hard to be a bigger assh*le. Perhaps some neighbors feel so disrespected that they sent some texts to the New York Times. Perhaps he ought to just learn a lesson. He is supposed to be the smart guy.

He can always make it worse, and he seems dedicated to the task.
