MAGA Cultist Pastor Says Biden’s $1,400 Stimulus Checks are Actually an Offering from Trump

Right-wing Pastor Shane Vaughn is another one of those cookie-cutter “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” Trump supporters who think indigent people should just straighten up and fly right without stimulus checks. Because of course, he does. Vaughn also thinks its thanks to Trump that most of us will be receiving these checks.

Vaughn, of First Harvest Ministries, in Waveland, Mississippi, posted a video on YouTube, saying that as a conservative, he’s opposed to the relief package and stimulus checks as a matter of principle, Right Wing Watch notes, because he believes “in hard times, I dig my own self out.” But he also noted that if anyone is going to be thanked for this it should be Trump.

“The Democrats are all excited about this, but this was Donald Trump’s idea, not theirs,” Vaughn said. “Does anybody not remember when Donald Trump came to the podium because they were trying to send all our money overseas? Do you remember when he walked out, refused to sign the stimulus package because it only gave, I believe, only $1200 to each person?”

But I’m wondering how many of you also remember that the reason we need stimulus packages is that Trump ignored the pandemic and refused to encourage any meaningful legislation to slow its spread? And suggested we could inject ourselves with bleach to kill the virus?

Logic, however, is wasted on people like Vaughn, who added:

“Donald Trump said, ‘If we’re gonna blow this money anyway, then blow it on our people. And so, ladies and gentlemen, that bill was passed today where you’re getting all this money, that was an offering from our late president to every one of you. …So even as Donald Trump has left office, his blessing to America has continued.

Well, Vaughn isn’t completely wrong about that — after all Trump has left office, and that’s a blessing.

I’ve included a snippet of his remarks below, courtesy of Right Wing Watch.
