Matt Gaetz Defends Himself in Such a Bizarre Fox Interview That Even Tucker Carlson is Shaken By It

A visibly nervous and shaken Matt Gaetz appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show last night after the New York Times revealed that Gaetz is under investigation for Mann Act violations. The Mann Act is an old law to get around back when states had very different age of consent laws and gives the federal government jurisdiction when someone takes a minor across state lines for illicit purposes, meaning to pay or grant some other compensation for what might be termed as otherwise consensual relationships.

The Times said that Gaetz is accused of paying for travel and accommodations for a 17-year-old girl. His behavior since that time, and in particular his answers to Tucker’s questions, have been nothing short of bizarre.

It is not hard to say, “No, there is nothing to this, this is part of something much bigger that involves the investigation of a corrupt official in Florida who tried to extort my family.” And end it there. To be sure, it does sound like there was an official that tried to extort a ton of money from Gaetz’s rich family and that is a crime.

But the fact that someone else committed a crime doesn’t make Matt Gaetz innocent. We should add, the fact that Matt Gaetz is a subject doesn’t make him a criminal, either. But you are definitely “of interest” to law-enforcement, far more so than a “witness.” And wow, Gaetz’s answers are out there, pay attention to his carefully worded answers:

Yeah, that wasn’t “No, I didn’t do any of this. There is no minor girl. I never saw anyone who …” and that doesn’t make Gaetz guilty, but again – it’s damned easy to say “No, there’s nothing here.”

And then he keeps wanting to draw Tucker into this somehow:

Tucker, of course, reminded Gaetz that Tucker’s accusations came from a mentally-ill person who Tucker had never met. That is the type of easy answer one normally sees from someone wholly innocent. Gaetz – you will notice – doesn’t do that. Again, none of this makes Gaetz guilty, but something’s odd here. Gaetz continued to try to bring Tucker into this somehow:

And it just keeps getting weirder:

“Pictures”? There will be no such pictures because no such thing happened?

And then Gaetz does something that – normally – only guilty people do, distract from the actual facts and make it political or about some personal vendetta. He mentions that being a conservative isn’t in vogue right now in parts of the country. Except, the investigation began when Barr was attorney general and Trump was president and it involves people from the panhandle area of Florida, hardly a bastion of liberalism.

One can see that Tucker is almost visibly shaken by what he just heard:

This is bizarre. And a 17-year-old girl in the company of a mid-30s-year-old man? She is a child, no matter how mature in stature or development, a 17-year-old is a child and that is why we have laws against this kind of manipulation. As to the Mann Act violations, Gaetz is presumed innocent. As to the charge of being extremely weird in this interview, he’s guilty AF.
