REPORT: Feds Investigating Communication Between Insurrectionists and Members of Congress

The old expression was “tik-tok” usually followed by some reference to someone’s mother. But the new warning to the MAGAs who may or may not have been coordinating with insurrectionists on January 6th might well be “Drip, drip, drip …”

It does seem like more and more, we’re hearing of evidence indicating some kind of coordination between MAGA congressional figures and insurrectionists. According to CNN, citing “a US official briefed on the matter”:

“Federal investigators are examining records of communications between members of Congress and the pro-Trump mob that attacked the US Capitol, as the investigation moves closer to exploring whether lawmakers wittingly or unwittingly helped the insurrectionists,

When one mentions that Speaker Pelosi has been taken from the House Chamber, that might well be called wittingly:

“The data gathered so far includes indications of contact with lawmakers in the days around January 6, as well as communications between alleged rioters discussing their associations with members of Congress, the official said. The existence of such communications doesn’t necessarily indicate wrongdoing by lawmakers and investigators aren’t yet targeting members of Congress in the investigation, the official noted. Should investigators find probable cause that lawmakers or their staffs possibly aided the insurrectionists, they could seek warrants to obtain the content of the communications. There’s no indication they’ve taken such a step at this point,

We are of the opinion that no matter how much the “US official briefed on the matter” knows or says, there is not a chance that a leak would report on investigations of specific members of congress. The line that: “Investigators aren’t yet targeting members of Congress,” is a throwaway. They could easily be targeting members, or they may not be. We would not hear about it in a CNN report one way or another. This leak was likely intentional and desired, but specifics will not be allowed out until indictments come down.

But, drip, drip, drip.

They know that insurrectionists were in contact with Congress members and, though communication is not necessarily criminal, there are very few good reasons to be in contact on that day. Warrants should be able to retrieve those exact communications. Now, we’ll see if they were stupid enough to write their thoughts out in texts.

This could get very interesting, Lauren, Marjorie … drip, drip, drip.
