Trump Brutally Lashes Out at Fauci and Birx After CNN Special, Then Claims He ‘Saved the Entire World’

Boy, you can just feel how much Donald Trump wants his Twitter back. He has so much anger to release, and these lame statements just aren’t cutting it.

Ex-President Trump (Will never tire of writing that) went on an angry tirade Monday against Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx, two of his former top medical advisers on the COVID-19 pandemic, slamming their decision making during his presidency on the day after CNN aired previews of comments by the pair.

Trump released one of his lengthy “elegant” statements in which he said that he ignored both Fauci and Birx while in office as a benefit to the country and boasted that he alone was responsible for getting vaccines rapidly developed and approved. Nice, huh? The ex-president admitted he IGNORED the advice of doctors and experts. And we all know how that turned out.

Trump said:

“Based on their interviews, I felt it was time to speak up about Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, two self-promoters trying to reinvent history to cover for their bad instincts and faulty recommendations, which I fortunately almost always overturned. They had bad policy decisions that would have left our country open to China and others, closed to reopening our economy, and years away from an approved vaccine—putting millions of lives at risk.”

Then he said, “We developed American vaccines by an American president in record time, nine months, which is saving the entire world.

Trump also mocked Fauci for his first pitch at the Washington Nationals game last year and labeled him the “king of ‘flip-flops,'” citing his changing guidance as experts learned more about the pandemic. And of course these weren’t flip-flops. As Fauci learned more about virus, which was a new virus, his opinions often changed. That’s science.

Trump saved his most of his anger for Birx, who has recently given interviews in which she has expressed regret for how she handled her role as head of the White House coronavirus task force.

“Dr. Birx is a proven liar with very little credibility left,” Trump said, claiming that Fauci would talk badly about her behind her back. Ah, Trump loves pitting people against each other. I highly doubt Fauci spoke poorly of Birx behind her back. It’s not his style.

“The States who followed her lead, like California, had worse outcomes on Covid, and ruined the lives of countless children because they couldn’t go to school, ruined many businesses, and an untold number of Americans who were killed by the lockdowns themselves. Dr. Birx was a terrible medical advisor, which is why I seldom followed her advice.”

Trump also slammed at Birx for traveling for Thanksgiving to see her family despite emphasizing guidance to avoid nonessential travel. That is just so incredibly rich considering Trump rarely followed the guidances himself. Trump traveled frequently for campaign events throughout the pandemic, including holding a host of largely maskless rallies in the weeks leading up to the election. Heck, he held a super spreader event for Justice Amy Coney Barrett in which it is believed to be the event Trump himself caught CVOID-19 (along with his wife and son Barron.)

Birx drew criticism last year for praising Trump’s understanding of the data on the pandemic despite his tendency to spread misinformation. She failed to push back last spring when Trump made false claims about people injecting disinfectant as a means to treat the virus. Remember this?

The Trump diatribe came in response to interviews by Birx and Fauci that aired Sunday as part of a preview of a special by CNN to air on Friday.
