Ivanka Tweets ‘Cute’ Pic of Her Getting Her Shot: MAGAs Vaporize Her for ‘Falling for It’

Like so many Trumps (and all too many others, Kayleigh!), nothing ever actually happens to some people until it appears on Twitter. Some of us sort of grew up with the same approach to some things. Maybe we won the Nobel Prize for Literature (maybe) but it didn’t actually happen until we called our dad. Maybe Nicolle Wallace asked us out, but it didn’t actually happen until we texted everyone. But most of us grow out of that at ohhh, maybe age 28 or so. But some seem to still live with the need to tweet every accomplishment.

Ivanka got her shot today, we presume it was bleach. Nah, even we aren’t that mean. And we are glad that she got the vaccination. We know the MAGA man mind and many of them plan on marrying her one day, they’ll need a lot of shots. (Maybe we are mean). But given the MAGA reticence about getting anything that is the product of “science,” any little nudge will help. Perhaps we should tell the MAGAs that guns work on plain old Newtonian physics, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Science!

But it is odd seeing Ivanka, looking pretty as ever (this was going on Twitter, after all) getting a shot for a disease that will magically go away. Moreover, last we heard from Ivanka, she knew the difference between stuff grounded in science and stuff just grounded in mRNA flakes. From just this December:

Amazingly, she was right. Arbitrary rules did destroy lives. A national response with a national plan and lockdown – with serious economic relief – would have saved lives.

But here is Ivanka today. Look, Daddy, I’m in science!

We want to be very clear about two things. One, we do support her getting the vaccination while wearing a fairly tight almost see-through t-shirt that nearly forces MAGA men to look, because it may have a positive impact on vaccinating the “hesitant.” Two, “Nurse Torres” sounds like someone of Hispanic heritage – even if her family is sixth-generation American. It likely won’t hit the MAGAs but it is nicely symbolic to see the most virulently anti-immigrant, xenophobic, folks on earth seeing a Latina sister doing what our brother and sister immigrants from all over the world do, be Americans contributing to American things. Nothing more and certainly nothing less.

Anyway, Ivanka’s self-satisfied tweet proved to be a bit (god help us) brave. Because most of the “patriots” in the MAGA movement, by far, did not appreciate her gesture. Many mocked her, and many went further than we ever went, wanting her to suffer from this, something we’d never do in any context. It just proves, MAGAs will MAGA.

Same reason you vaccinate your kids before they go to school, moron. So that one doesn’t get fatal diseases. Jeezus there is such an opportunity for evolution here.

The virus doesn’t have a 99.75% recovery rate, and it especially doesn’t in people with pre-existing conditions. Moreover, having COVID – even for those who survive, is not “good.” Many spend three weeks in the ICU on ventilators, getting the shit blown out of their lungs, and walk out with scarred lungs and hearts. There are also the “long-haulers” who are not one of those counted as “dead” in those stats but have had their lives forever changed. The chance of a blood clot is one in a million, which is far less than the 99.75% quoted above, there is no “sterilization” (except the needle), but there could be impotence problems if one gets COVID.

Below, a brilliant woman (NOT) who you would never have heard of if she did not have the plunging neckline, a $75,000 surgically enhanced face, $2500 a month hair, and an ability to say unconscionably conservative things:

Did we miss something? Did someone force Ivanka to get vaccinated? And if the University of Michigan doesn’t allow you into the stadium for the Ohio State game without proof of vaccination, that is not “forced vaccination,” either.

Everything is a conspiracy.

The survival rate is going up. People get flu shots because it sucks to have the flu. COVID is far worse than the flu and we’re not sure that “survival rate” is the only measure here. It sucks to get COVID.

You once trusted them?

Holy sh*t! Is this real life?

You thought I was overstating it when saying that she’s the MAGA fantasy?

This is a public health issue. The public has a need to know who has been vaccinated and who has not.

Does this person know that viruses work precisely because they can alter your RNA to make copies of itself? That viruses have been responsible for mutations that have aided in evolution for millions of years? Does this person know that his DNA does no good if it’s buried underground, or that his DNA cannot fix the scarred lungs from COVID?

This person confuses the mortality rate with the “getting the disease” rate.

Most people who read our site live a rational life, read rational stuff, and make rational decisions – perhaps not from the writers ourselves, but from the stories we cover. It is interesting to take a peek at how the other side lives. Ivanka actually did a good thing by posting this but it is simply unbelievable how many “Unfolloweds” lined up in response and how many that follow her are impervious to reason.

Some of the reasoning in this thread is downright terrifying. Additionally, any gain in mortality rates (it was once 1-2%) have come about from improvements in therapeutics in the hospital, better medicines, techniques, etc. But it doesn’t change the fact that for every one death, there are likely four to five patients that spend a week or two in the ICU, still others in the hospital on supplemental oxygen, others at home feeling like they’re lifting weights with their chest, none of them sure of the long-term impacts of the virus, or whether their lungs or hearts will be scarred, or whether they’ll be one of those “long-haulers” whose lives seem forever changed.

Here is something I know. I got my 2nd Pfizer three weeks ago at a young age because I helped provide care for an elderly woman, and though I still wear a mask, I haven’t felt so free in over 15 months. It is nice to have majored in biology, but it’s even nicer spending life reading rational stuff and interacting with nice rational readers.
