Earlier this month, noted homophobe Franklin Graham did some hand-wringing over former President Donald Trump because ‘Murika didn’t appreciate him enough, and now he’s back to complaining again on Facebook. This time he’s up in arms because U.S. embassies are flying Pride flags.

Graham has earned a spot on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Hatewatch blog because he is notoriously anti-LGBTQ. Enough so that a string of his appearances were canceled in the UK last year.

Now he’s taken to his Facebook page to complain about embassies having the temerity to post those rainbow flags, Joe.My.God. reports:

“Just because something is ‘authorized,’ that doesn’t make it right! Why should a flag representing one group of people and a specific agenda be literally raised up above all others and allowed to fly at our embassies and consulates?”

Here’s the part where I bring up an outdated survey that needs updating but at least has numbers we can work with: PBS, citing information from the Williams Institute estimates that in 2010 at least 70,000 members of the military were gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Additionally, in 2014 that same institute found that 15,500 transgender Americans were serving in the armed forces at the time.

That, I would think, is reason enough for embassies to fly the Pride flag. This is lost on Graham, however.

“The embassies represent the United States of America on foreign soil — only the U.S. flag should be flown,” he writes. “Not the gay pride flag, not the Christian flag, not any other flag. The previous administration had a one-flag rule that the Biden administration has rescinded.”
