Trump Releases the Most Bizarre Statement About the Oscars That He Clearly Must Be Losing His Mind

Conservatives, including former President Donald Trump, are apparently thrilled that Sunday’s ratings for the Oscars did a steep nosedive, falling nearly 60 percent from 2020, which was also a record low, Mediaite reports. On Tuesday Trump decided to also relish Hollywood’s unfortunately bad news.

In a statement, he criticized the iconic ceremony as “politically correct and boring” — something that’s been a conservative talking point over the past couple of days on social media and cable news.

Here’s what he had to say:

“What used to be called the Academy Awards, and now is called the ‘Oscars’ — a far less important and elegant (he seems to have an infatuation with that word) name — had the lowest Television Ratings in recorded history, even much lower than last year, which set another record low. If they keep with the current ridiculous formula, it will only get worse — if that’s possible. Go back 15 years, look at the formula they then used, change the name back to THE ACADEMY AWARDS, don’t be so politically correct and boring, and do it right. ALSO, BRING BACK A GREAT HOST. (He sure does like to get all SHOUTY, doesn’t he?) These television people spend all their time thinking about how to promote the Democrat Party, which is destroying our Country, and cancel conservatives and Republicans (hey there’s an idea!) That formula certainly hasn’t worked very well for the Academy.”

You know, if memory serves me right, Trump’s ratings were also in the toilet when he left office. Yeah, that’s right, they were! He’s an expert on something like this, especially since he drove the country right into the ground during his four years in office.

There’s also a reason why the ceremony took on a low-key approach this year, notes one person connected with the situation.

In an interview with Variety, Rob Mills — executive Vice President of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television for ABC — defended the ceremony’s hostless and somber broadcast.

“There wasn’t a host, and I think nobody quite knew in this year if it would be tone-deaf,” Mills said. “You still want to be celebratory, especially in a year where people were able to do such amazing work. But you also want to be mindful of where we still are in the world. So I think that’s why the show that happened was pretty much the show that we’ve been planning for many months.”

Considering what everyday Americans have had to deal with it seems understandable that those in charge kept all of this in consideration. How typical of Trump to find joy in other’s bad news. Perhaps he should be worrying about his own ratings, which as I mentioned, are even worse than the Oscars ceremony’s.
