Trump’s Former Bodyguard Says Donald Would Snap at Melania, and Borrow Money for Fast Food and Not Repay Him

Former President Donald Trump’s relationship with his wife, Melania has been the subject of constant speculation over the past four years as the world heard all about his extramarital escapades, her seemingly chilly demeanor, and her devotion to their young son Barron.

Clearly, this is a couple who have had plenty of marital ups and downs. But as too many of us have found out, Trump has a mercurial temper. He’s the proverbial mean guy in the playground, something his former bodyguard Kevin McKay knows only too well, and in an interview with The Daily Mail, he had quite a story to tell.

He remembers a time in Scotland in 2011 when Trump asked him to pick up Melania and Barron at the Aberdeen airport after the two flew in on the real estate magnate’s private jet from Paris in 2011.

“It was the only time she was here and she looked like a million dollars, fantastic,” McKay said of the former First Lady.

Melania, he said was “a very caring wife,” who did “whatever she was told without question.”

“If Mr. Trump asked her to do something, she would do it straight away,” he noted. “Melania was concerned about Mr. Trump when she landed.”

Concerned enough, in fact, to ask him if her husband was eating and sleeping okay.

But when it comes to sleeping it doesn’t sound like he was doing much of that. I’m sure most of us remember his late-night Twitter harangues and it seems like sleep was never a priority for him. McKay confirms this in the interview, adding that Trump “was under a lot of stress at the time.”

“He hardly ever slept, four or five hours maximum. He would go to bed at 1:00 a.m. and get up again at 5:00 a.m. I knew this because I could see the light on in his room,” he said.

While she was spending time in Scotland with her husband Melania never set foot off the estate, the former bodyguard noted, adding that the couple seemed to get along well, but “with him being him, he was a bit snappy with her.”

“He’s always been like that,” McKay said. “One morning she handed him a coffee and he snapped, ‘I don’t want that, we’ll talk about this later.”

“I don’t know if it was the coffee that was bothering him or something else. He didn’t argue with his wife in front of other people.”

We already know that Trump is a notorious fraudster but in Mckay’s case, it seems he was a serious cheapskate. At one point in 2008, the former president, his bodyguard, and a convoy of other vehicles stopped at a McDonald’s near the Bridge of Don in Scotland because Trump wanted to buy food for the flight back to New York. The trouble is, he didn’t have any UK currency, so he asked McKay if he could front him the money.

“I said ‘sure,’ and took everyone’s order — about 20 cheeseburgers and fries with around 10 or 15 Coca-Colas,” McKay said, adding, “I think Mr. Trump ordered two cheeseburgers with fries and a diet Coke — that was his usual order and he always wanted McDonald’s to take with him on the private jet.”

As Trump’s bodyguard, working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, McKay earned a paltry $2700 a month, so, at £95 ($130), this was no trifling expense for him. Unsurprisingly, McKay, 50, who was fired by Trump in 2012, has never been paid back. Trump doing something like this isn’t surprising to most of us but for the former bodyguard, it came as a shock.

“For much of that time I was working for him, I kept thinking he would say, ‘Kevin, here’s that money I owe you,’ but it didn’t happen,” he said. “I thought he was an okay guy when I first started working for him but I guess as we have all come to see, he is not a man of his word.”

But Trump is, and always has been a mean guy. While in Scotland, he screwed over contractors who were working on MacLeod House, the family estate that was named after his mother, and also tormented local residents if they didn’t dance to his tune.

So is any of this in any way surprising? We went through four years of his constant nastiness and temper tantrums.

If Melania has any smarts she’ll get out of Dodge ASAP.

I’m not holding my breath though.
