It’s been a week since Caitlyn Jenner announced her plans to run for governor of California and now she’s posted her campaign launch video, a three-minute clip that was initially posted by Brad Parscale, ex-president Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Mediaite reports.

Jenner’s campaign team confirmed on April 23 that she filed the corresponding paperwork to officially toss her hat into the race, a recall election against current governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) fueled by frustrations over his handling of the pandemic.

An adviser for Jenner, a Republican, said in an interview with Axios that as a trans woman, Jenner will run as “someone that’s socially liberal and fiscally conservative.”

But it’s anyone’s guess as to whether Jenner will really be “socially liberal,” especially as Queerty notes she has recently said she doesn’t support the idea of transgender girls competing in female sports.

In an interview with TMZ Saturday, Jenner made it clear where she stands on trans athletes playing school sports, CNN reports. During the brief interview, a reporter had asked her what she thought about efforts made by some Republican legislatures to ban transgender athletes from participating in sports that align with their gender identities and that’s when she said she was against the idea of transgender girls playing on girls teams.

“This is a question of fairness. That’s why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school,” Jenner responded. “It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”

She reinforced her beliefs on Twitter.

“I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand. It’s an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”

It’s worth noting that Jenner is a former Trump supporter; she withdrew her supporter after the former president banned trans people from military service, saying she found this “extremely disappointing.”

While she might not support Trump anymore, she’s hired a number of his cronies for her staff, including Tony Fabrizio, who was part of Trump’s 2016 campaign. Former White House communications staffer Steven Cheung and Trump fundraiser Caroline Wren, who incidentally helped plan the Jan. 6 rally that preceded the insurrection at the Capitol, are also part of her team.

Parscale, on the other hand, doesn’t have an official role with the campaign but has been helping her map her strategy and while he’s a longtime friend, he’s apparently not being paid for his assistance.

A press release accompanying the video originally misspelled Jenner’s name, USAToday reports. That led Parscale to respond on Twitter:

“If this is your biggest fault in [Jenner’s] release video, I’ll take it. Staff are human and mistakes happen,” he wrote. He then went on to say that Newsom is the “one that should be worried,” and criticized the story as “just the far-left attack machine.”

Here’s the video launching her campaign below, but I’m going to add that since she’s a former Trump supporter who’s against transgender girls playing in girls’ sports, this should set off a few warning signals for anyone thinking of supporting her.
