Cindy McCain Goes Off on CNN Against the MAGAs: Arizona Recount is ‘Ludicrous’ and Defends Hunter Biden

It is almost like an obligation to note that Cindy McCain is the wealthy one in the McCain family. The late Senator McCain brought the historical pedigree, his grandfather and father were admirals in the Navy. But Cindy brought the money and thus a lot of her own power. She is also Republican through and through.

Seen through that lens, some on the left might discount her stand against the MAGAs as one without risk. We won’t.

Sure, Cindy McCain won’t be dumped into some terrible hard life due to her stand. But her life would be much easier if she chose to simply sit in silence, watching it all pass by, working on local charitable projects. Instead, she has chosen to pick up her husband’s cause where he left it, country over politics and certainly over Donald Trump. She has even picked up the maverick angle. Cindy must feel especially free to really let it out because she most certainly is really letting it all out as “straight talk.”

The Arizona recount is “ludicrous,” she says. Yes, it is. It is also damned dangerous. But it is now MAGA doctrine to support it and projects like it. McCain unapologetically asserts that Joe Biden is president having won the election. Amazing, but that’s almost radical for a Republican.

But she really let the MAGAs have it this week for creating their own demon in Hunter Biden. From People:

Do you think President Biden's vaccination plan is working?

This is not to be political and I don’t mean it to be, but in the case of Hunter Biden, whether you like him or not, whether you agree with him or not, I don’t care,”

“But the fact of the matter [is], they have once again shamed a man who is struggling in addiction and the media has taken no sense of responsibility about helping him deal with this,” Cindy, 66, continued. “Instead, they’ve made sure that he’s a laughingstock of America, and I just find that wrong.”

Of course, it is wrong. Cindy can relate to one’s struggle with addiction but that’s almost irrelevant, actually – it is irrelevant. She is a human being who recognizes that – as she said – like him or not, drop that shit.

And of course, the MAGAs simply hate her for it because that’s what they do, just like any cult, attack anyone outside:

There are plenty more. And very few Democrats will even thank her or truly support her. Most only note how insane it is that McCain, Romney, and Cheney represent the lost sanity of the Republican party. We choose to truly support her and welcome her to the American fight for democracy.

Congratulations to Cindy McCain for taking a stand and continuing the McCain legacy. It feels good to free ourselves, once in a while, from what some on the left see as the required rigid cynicism. Sometimes, just be nice.

Peace, y’all
