One can literally say or do anything as a FOX host so long as one’s ratings remain high enough to make the Murdochs money. S*xual h*rassment behind the camera may be a different matter, but in front of the camera, no limits, so long as it’s a moneymaker, even if it is dangerous.
It leaves one hoping that the network (and thus the Murdochs) continue to get sued up their nostrils for that focus on ratings because that focus has not only hurt the country but it’s now responsible for an uncountable number of deaths. The Big Lie the Anti-Mask, and Anti-Vaxx movement couldn’t be a “thing” without FOX News and certain hosts.
It has infuriated some FOX staffers who called for Tucker to be fired. It went nowhere, according to a report in the Daily Beast [1]. We all might say, that getting advertisers to boycott the racism or MAGA Anti-Vax will hit the money. But surprisingly, no, according to a source from inside FOX:
“He’s a good example of how much you can get away with at Fox if your ratings are high. Aside from that, he just perpetuates the right’s catastrophe platform. They cannot win with their supposed limited government, fiscal conservatism, because not even they really believe in it. So all they do is fear monger.
“He’s the new Bill O’Reilly. The dirty little secret is that FNC doesn’t care about losing advertisers. They make their money via cable conglomerates that pay them much money so that dumb f*cks who worship FNC can continue being told what, in their heart of hearts, they want to believe — and that’s a lot of people.”
There you go. Perhaps one-hundred million people would demand that FOX be a part of their cable package and maybe unknowingly pay the massive fees FOX charges the cable companies. It sets up nothing more than a positive feedback loop, the audience gets what it wants, strict MAGA with ever increasing outrage, to make it exciting.
An undisclosed staffer put it perfectly:
If Tucker left, his fans would follow him wherever he went and would turn Fox off for scorning their leader. If Trump is the most dangerous person in the country, Tucker is a close second behind him.
Thus it is that Trump retains strict control of the Right and the hosts retain strict control of massive contracts making them some of the wealthiest people on television.
