Almost surely, Trump didn’t consider any other venue to come up with his “response” to Biden’s speech. No one serves up softballs like Maria Bartiromo, and we include Sean Hannity in that list. Maria knows what Trump wants to say and thus frames her questions so as to lead right into the answers.
She knows that Trump is angry that Biden didn’t thank Trump for all of Trump’s selfless work and Maria lit the fuse:
“You see how they’re blaming you on everything and they do not attribute the successes that you had to your administration. How do you feel about that?”
She might as well have asked him, “Many women say that you’re the greatest lover on Earth, no one even comes close, how do you feel about that?” Instead, she knew Trump would want to complain and her question led right into Trump’s whining:
“It’s ridiculous. Obviously, they’re very ungracious people. I did the vaccine. They like to take the vaccine. But even the fake news isn’t giving them credit for that. We did the vaccine, saved tens of millions of lives throughout the world by coming up with a vaccine. If I weren’t president, vaccine, you wouldn’t have a vaccine for five years, three to five years would be the minimum. I got it done in less than nine months. And that’s only because of me.
They are “ungracious?” Wow.
And, as we have said many many times before, Trump had fck all to do with the vaccine. Trump cleared out the same regulatory hurdles, just like every other nation (how original). And how did Trump save the world when the British were actually injecting the vaccine, not testing but treating people with the vaccine, over a week before us? We don’t think that the vaccine is “only because of [Trump].” Now, the MAGA refusal to wear masks? Yes, that was only because of Trump.
He wasn’t done, regarding vaccine delivery, Trump seems to recognize that things are going awfully well:
[W]e had a great delivery system and all they did is take what we had and keep it moving.
Biden’s people spent the first afternoon in office looking for the national distribution plan. There was no plan. The plan was like every other plan. Have the states do it, which is the opposite of an official plan, and guaranteed that distribution would be as unorganized, slow, and tedious as possible.
