We don’t want to indict the entire GOP in this particular type of insanity, but it does absolutely reinforce the very dangerous idea that the MAGA GOP really does think it’s in a “war” for the country.

A Tamp Florida area seat is totally up for grabs due to Charlie Christ’s decision to run for Governor. A MAGA candidate, William Braddock was recorded speaking to a GOP activist. During that thirty-minute conversation, Braddock warned the activist to not support Anna Luna, a former model turned political activist. In the call, Braddock warned that he hoped it never came to putting a hit squad on Luna but made it very clear that he would if she continued to do well, he believed he had a better chance in the general election than Luna.

According to Politico:

I really don’t want to have to end anybody’s life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” Braddock said at one point in the conversation last week, according to the recording exclusively obtained by POLITICO. “That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Luna is a f—ing speed bump in the road. She’s a dead squirrel you run over every day when you leave the neighborhood.

One would hope that this would not only remove Braddock from consideration but also result in misdemeanor charges. Bur nowadays, one cannot count on anything in the modern GOP. They are whitewashing January 6th. They can whitewash anything, especially with the primary for 2022 so far off. The GOP specializes in forgetting their worst behavior. There is also the weird fact that Braddock’s supposed hit squad is Russian-Ukraininn. Why does the GOP continue to come back to Russia and Ukraine as their friends?

In the recording, Braddock early in the call brought up the alleged assassins. He also made rambling statements about getting financial help from fellow Freemasons or by somehow importing millions of dollars from Malta and Gibraltar.

“I have access to a hit squad, too, Ukrainians and Russians,” he said about three minutes into the call, adding “don’t get caught out in public supporting Luna. … Luna’s gonna go down and I hope it’s by herself.”

Whether he’s ever met a Russian or just making idle threats, why does the GOP always lean on Russia as some kind of co-conspirator? This kind of thinking, that Russia is their friend, is increasingly dangerous. Russia wants to be their friend and too many are accepting it as normal.

This isn’t even some kind of fringe sort of thing. Braddock wanted to take out the favorite for the primary. Luna already filed for a restraining order and the police are looking at the matter. We suggest that they not just look at Braddock but also the type of “GOP voters” he’s been working with.

Again, it’s not the entirety of the GOP but far too many of these people do consider themselves at war with mainstream Americans. Warlike talk leads to warlike action.
