Lara Trump Shocks by Suddenly Slamming the Door on Senate Run: Is She Afraid of Criminal Investigations?
This is quite a shock.
We have spent the last three to four months (at least) taking it as a given that Lara Trump would be running for the Senate from North Carolina. We were not alone, obviously. It was the conventional wisdom on both the right and the left. And yet, out of nowhere, Saturday night at the Republican GOP convention-gathering, Lara announced that she would not be running because she’s figured out that being a mother is a pretty demanding job.
Strange.
Being a mother of two is a damned tough job, so tough that one would’ve thought she realized this fact, several years ago, when she had children. Even us single dads realize that life gets more complicated having to manage two lives. All of which is a long way of saying that Lara Trump is full of sh*t. Wow, that was a lot easier to say.

She is almost certainly telling the truth about not running for the senate. She is certainly not telling us the reason, which allows everyone – including the ever-wise Twitter-verse (play along) to speculate that Lara might be a bit afraid of what’s coming down the pike with investigations.
From Meaww.com:
“I am saying no for now, not no forever,”ย Laraย told an audience at the North Carolina GOP state convention. Lara stated that raising her two young children would make it “very hard” to pursue aย career in Congress. “When you do something, you give 100 percent,” she said. “I would absolutely love to come back and consider running for something here in my home state because I love it dearly.”
What a typical Trump explanation. Utterly meaningless. Raising one young teen girl makes itย “very hard” to be a writer (or get up in the morning). That doesn’t mean we don’t do it just because kids make life “harder.” And, we figure out it makes life harder when the child is 48 hours old. (Technically, kids don’t make life harder, so much as more expensive, which is harder. Whatever)
Lara dreams of being a Senator “I would love it dearly…” but she did not go on to say, “I would love it dearly right fcking now if I possibly could. But I’m worried that the FBI is poking around some of my emails and texts a little too closely and maybe if I become treasurer for the PTA, they’ll leave me alone.” She would have sounded cooler and more real, something no other Trump ever attained.
So there is some speculation:
One person said, “#BREAKING: Lara Trump realizes mounting a losing Senate campaign will be difficult once her gormless spouse w/Grand Canyon-sized daddy issues winds up in prison.” While another one said, “At least Lara Trump is smart enough not to run for Senate in NC. Sheโs the smartest one of the bunch, but the barโs not too high.” One said, “Criminal investigations got her bogged down?
We’re pretty sure that one person said that we’re the hottest guy on earth, once, maybe. So take the comments for what they’re worth. But we’re certain of one thing. No one in the immediate Trump orbit will actually be in prison by November of 2022. Anyone who thinks this is a possibility has never seen a courtroom or Law and Order.
It is, however, true that possible criminal investigations have made her think twice. She may not be all that worried that her association with her… husband (Is she really married to him or do they just share a last name?) her association itself will not likely get her in trouble. But it is an entirely different story if she has now seen that seeking high political office and attaining high political office means one’s life will be examined closely. It is possible that she may be less concerned with what Trump has done wrong and more concerned about what Lara might have done at various points.
Or at least one person says that.
“Those poll number for Lara #Trump must have been brutal. Too bad…..”
Poll numbers don’t mean a thing right now when your last name is Trump. Her strength as a candidate would depend almost entirely on the strength of the MAGA movement. Perhaps she does see some trouble ahead. Look at Trump’s deterioration (we did all weekend).
Another one speculated, “Perhaps Lara Trump knows the Trump Crime Family will not survive the criminal prosecutions in the months and years ahead.”
Perhaps. But that is not the type of realization that might dawn on her overnight. It makes one hell of a lot more sense that over the last two weeks she’s seen coverage of Trump himself focus intensely upon the fact that he seems both mentally and physically falling apart. Now that is a realization that could both sneak up on her and send some assumptions flying into the breeze.
We don’t know. Wait, there is one thing we do know. We do now that she didn’t change her mind about running because she suddenly looked around the house, saw two kids in it and thought, “Wow, it would be hard to be having to vote “No” on whether Democrats should be considered free citizens, while also having to get one kid to soccer and one to swim lessons.”
That much, we do know.

Peace, y’all
