Twitter Roars at Lindsey Graham Who Says ‘Voting Rights Bill is the Biggest Power Grab in History’

Democracy means self-governing, the people will decide what they want, what their priorities might be, and where they want to go into the future. Other than with respect to civil rights on some issues, this country has become increasingly conservative. We do not mean to indict all Baby-boomers, some of them have been the strongest liberal advocates and have been so for the longest. But when the huge block of Baby Boomers proved to be very conservative, the politicians followed them, making the country more conservative.

But now three generations have come of age, Black Americans have been galvanized, and the country is now taking a hard left tack. The X’ers, Millenials, and soon the Zoomers, have joined the more liberal baby boomers, demanding the country reverse course on the environment, gun rights, various government programs (SNAP, Mandatory maternity time, etc), LGBTQ rights, among many others.

Meanwhile, the Republicans have been caught flatfooted, trying to keep the country moving right while the electorate is going left. In a democracy, this would require the Republicans to moderate their programs to follow the voters, just like Bill Clinton became more conservative throughout his term.

That is not going to happen under Trumpism, or under McConnell, Graham, etc. To counter such ridiculous talk, Lindsey Graham just called the Voting Rights bill a “power grab” by Washington over the states. Except we’re talking elections. It’s not so much a “grab” as a hold on democracy.

This is obscene, so obscene that Lindsey was trending at the top of Twitter:

Wrong. The biggest power grab in history was LIncoln’s. The second biggest might have been the Reagan revolution Republicanism which has been going on forty years. Now with “Trumpism,” the Republicans are more extreme. Trump almost grabbed the top spot, rivaling Lincoln.

We have an update from McConnell, to give you an idea how strongly they’re against democracy.

Yeah, the Republicans shouldn’t be asked to adjust! They should adjust the rules to make it fair to McConnell and Republicans who have fewer voters!

Twitter went off:

It is somewhat unbelievable. Of course, a lot of it has to do with Black Americans demanding their place at the table and the conservatives have always been against such nonsense. Always.
