‘Freedom Caucus’ Demands that McCarthy Remove Pelosi as Speaker, End “Authoritarian Reign”

One would think that the House Freedom caucus would love authoritarianism at this point. Actually, they do. They just love their own authoritarian and when they don’t have their own, they want to use authoritarianism to remove the Democrat. They have had practice. These are, after all, the people who already tried to remove Biden using fascist tactics, an attempted coup.

According to Politico, they are demanding McCarthy do something that he doesn’t have the constitutional power to do, at least not without a majority. Again, though, they say, “So what’s the problem?”

In a letter Friday, the far-right group asked McCarthy to file and bring up a privileged motion by July 31 “to vacate the chair and end Nancy Pelosi’s authoritarian

Great idea! Why did it take them so long to think of it?

“Speaker Pelosi’s tenure is destroying the House of Representatives and our ability to faithfully represent the people we are here to serve,” they write. “Republicans, under your leadership, must show the American people that we will act to protect our ability to represent their interests.”

Given that the Democrats represent more people, a minority that gets to protect a minority over a majority would be… well, authoritarian. Besides, they do know that they voted against a completely neutral committee, correct?

Politico then “brilliantly” states the obvious:

The motion is all but guaranteed to fail in the Democratic House, but it signals a stewing anger on the right towards the speaker. The Freedom Caucus’ letter indicates that McCarthy would need to initiate the motion, and if he were to do so, it would further escalate partisan acrimony in the House that has remained high, and occasionally gotten personal, since Jan. 6.

Sorry, that anger was always strong as can be from the beginning. After all, wasn’t it a member of the Freedom caucus who tweeted, “They have taken the Speaker out”?

Yes, it was.

And this is a part of MAGA world’s crazy plan to install Trump as speaker, as demonstrated in this card that was distributed at CPAC a few weeks ago.
