Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene Humiliated When Photograph With Supporter Turns Out to Be a Prank

Even though Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is under investigation for alleged sex trafficking, he found time to show up beside fellow Congressperson Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) in California where the two held forth for their “America First” rally. That attracted the attention of one beachgoer who wanted a photo and a chance to strike up a conversation, Uproxx reports.

“Oh my God, I’m so excited!” the man, wearing a red, white, and blue bucket hat, shirt, and shorts told Gaetz and Greene. Then, looking squarely at Greene, he added “Everyone thinks you’re crazy, I don’t think you’re crazy.” Then he turned to Gaetz and said “People think you’re a ped*phile, I don’t think you’re a ped*phile at all. I don’t think he’s a ped*phile. The charges against him are totally false!”

But of course, this wasn’t just any meet-and-greet, no.

The “supporter,” was, in fact, comedian Walter Masterson, who knew this was the perfect opportunity to prank Gaetz and Greene.

“I called @mattgaetz a ped*phile to his face today. Actually, I screamed ‘I don’t think you’re a ped*phile at all,’ to which Gaetz responded ‘Yes TF I am!’ and had security toss me.”

Shortly after that Masterson uploaded the video, which you can see below.

At one point it becomes obvious that Gaetz is aware he’s being pranked while Greene appears oblivious. But if you slow the video down you can see the awareness dawn in Gaetz’s eyes and as the clip draws to a close, the gorilla suit dudes pull Masterson away from the pair.

The stunt caused a flurry of Twitter users to wisecrack that Gaetz will only pose for photos with those who really do think he’s a ped*phile, Mediaite reports.

“Matt Gaetz will only take photos with supporters who acknowledge he is a ped*phile,” cracked anti-Trump PAC MeidasTouch.

“Will you look at that [Matt Gaetz], you do have a supporter that doesn’t believe you are a ped*phile,” screenwriter David Weissman tweeted.

But that’s not all Twitter users commented on.
