Despite the fact that Tom Brady is generally assumed to be a Trump fan, the record says otherwise. Sure, Tom likely knew Trump prior to the presidency through the Patriot’s owner Robert Kraft. But the Patriots won the Superbowl in 2017 and 2019, and yet Brady refused to visit the White House either time. (In 2019, the Patriots decided not to go as a team.)
Additionally, the way that Brady joked while at the White House today and the fact that Donald Trump was the butt of the jokes, makes it clear enough to us that Brady “gets it,” and is now opposed to Trump entirely. That will happen when one plays a sport with Black Americans and Hispanics. One can see life from their point of view.
So we mentioned Brady’s jokes? Here he is [1]:
“It didn’t look great there at one point. We were 7-5, struggling a little bit, as the President alluded to. But we found a rhythm, we got on a roll,” Brady said. “Not a lot of people think that we could have won. In fact, I think, about 40 percent of the people still don’t think we won.”
OUCH!
Believe it or not, it actually got worse. The next one went straight into Trump’s pointed head. Again, Brady led off:
“It’s nice for me to be back here. We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was. I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing, and they started calling me ‘Sleepy Tom.’ Why would they do that to me?”
Joe was ready to play with a big smile and puffed up: “I don’t know!”
Those of us who are New Orleans Saints fans are not huge Tom Brady fans, but we can say that Tom Brady just moved up a couple of notches in the level of respect. Nicely done, G.O.A.T.
