Trump Lied About Melania’s History of Being on the Cover of Vogue and No One Knows Why

We have reported on some heavy things this Tuesday and so it’s always nice to dip into a little schadenfreude and relax a bit. Nothing satisfies like Trump whining about something as trivial as magazine covers, like Vogue, and the lack of an appearance thereof of Melania as First Lady.

We have noted before that we’ve checked the Constitution and there isn’t a thing in there about Vogue and a requirement that each FLOTUS must appear on the cover. Shocking, but true.

The fact is that Melania did appear on the cover of Vogue when she married Trump – so it wasn’t necessarily on her own merit, but we’ll chalk it up as real and she earned it. She modeled a lot of other stuff we don’t hold against her and so we won’t hold this on her, either.

She did not appear as First Lady and Trump (and Melania) have no one but themselves to blame. When your platform involves hating half the country, despising half the country, despising immigrants (half of the models in Vogue are from all over the world), it will be tough to get on the cover of any magazine except maybe NASCAR programs.

Moreover, and most importantly, Melania never did a thing to endear herself to the American people generally. There was never any chance after she wore the “I Don’t Care” jacket, that sealed any possibility. But even before she donned the jacket of hate, Melania didn’t give anyone any indication that she liked people, that she liked the U.S., that she cared about people less fortunate, or even her “cause” (which was perfect, when cyberbullying), it seemed to be an afterthought, a marketing gimmick. “Fock Christmas,” summed up her attitude about being First Lady generally. Why should anyone else not return the same attitude?

She had no warmth at all and believe it or not, Vogue has the editorial power to make their own decisions. They likely determined that they didn’t want her for political reasons – which is absolutely their right, and economic considerations. They knew that half the country despised her and it was – for the most part – the half that buys Vogue! So why would they put a person hated by 95% of their customers on the cover?

And so Trump’s response? Lie about the number of times Melania has been on the cover, “many times,” (because once isn’t enough) and that she was the “king of Vogue” which is an odd title for a woman wanting to be on the cover more than once:

Well, Melania’s done a super job, she’s very popular, she was on the cover of Vogue before I did the politics thing and Vogue is not the same magazine it was.

True, they now hate the political atmosphere in this country and what Trump has done to hate the media, “the enemy of the people.”

I don’t care that Jill Biden is on the cover, I think that’s great. But I will say that they love Melania and you see that with the crowd. She’s had her day on the cover of Vogue, more than once, she has been the “king” of Vogue.

Then why are you b*tching about it incessantly? It shouldn’t be a big deal, right?

But once I became president and once I decided to run, those days were cut short and it’s because of the philosophy, the philosophy is to make America great again. When you think of it, make America first, their philosophy is make America last.

Wrong. They’d have loved your philosophy if “Make America Great Again” wasn’t based upon hating POC. It really is that simple. That, and, she’s not as pretty as Jill. There, we said it. Fight us.

What an odd man with odd priorities, but you can bet your ass the Vogue cover was a bigger priority than covering your face with a mask.
