Trump Says He Was Not Perfect as President: Only Regret? Not Deploying Military Against BLM

Of all the things for which Trump is most famous, one possible thing stands out against most of the others. He has never done anything wrong in his life. When asked to grade the first half of his term, he famously gave himself an “A-Plus” because of course, he did.

Most presidents would love a chance to demonstrate how much they learned in the first couple of years, as an opportunity to show Americans how things will be better going forward. Not Trump. But according to the book “I Alone Can Fix It,” Trump did cop to one regret.

But just prior to making the admission,, it appears that Trump wanted it to be absolutely clear that even with a regret, Trump might have been the best president ever. As we’ve already reported:

“I think it would be hard if George Washington came back from the dead and he chose Abraham Lincoln as his vice president, I think it would have been very hard for them to beat me,” Trump told the two Washington Post reporters.“I think it would be hard if George Washington came back from the dead and he chose Abraham Lincoln as his vice president, I think it would have been very hard for them to beat me.”

Having established that Trump is the greatest president of all time (he would beat Washington and Lincoln,) it is absolutely news when Trump will admit to making a mistake, and that he has regrets. But this one can be interpreted as not so much a regret as believing that he was too good a guy to BLM. He wishes he called in the military, which would have required him to utilize the Insurrection Act:

‘I think if I had it to do again, I would have brought in the military immediately.”

In other words, he could have made America that much more dangerous, that much earlier. Despite the fact that Trump’s staff is rewriting history, all of them saying that they tried to stop him, someone likely did stop him on this one, saying it would be a violation of legal and societal norms, perhaps scaring the public more than garnering support.

So it’s easy to say now that he wishes he’d been “tougher,” as his only regret.
