‘Tuesday Was the Worst Day of Trump’s Life,’ Columnist Reveals Why Tom Brady Mocking Him Destroyed Trump

Yes, Tuesday was a bad day for Trump, even before Tom Brady took to the microphone at the White House. Trump’s lifelong friend and political conniver, Tom Barrack, was arrested for “illegal lobbying” (Waking Kushner up, too), and then Tom Brady sealed it by taunting Trump.

We reported on Brady’s “joke.” And while most people thought of it as gentle ribbing, we said the statements cut deeply. Today, we’re here to report that we’re still right. Jonathan Chair at the Intelligencer [1] agrees that the “gentle ribbing” wasn’t gentle at all, and not just because Trump can’t take any joke about anything, though that does take it to the next level. It is because Brady cut down Trump’s two biggest lies, the “stolen election” and “sleepy Joe,” while being Tom Brady, history’s biggest winner, and the whole crowd chuckled at Trump’s expense.

Let’s review the jokes for those that haven’t read them, and pick Chait up below:

Biden joked along and would have even if they didn’t come at Trump’s expense, Joe’s a good guy. But here’s the point. These are supposed to be stupid, dull, events, where the pols and athletes bask in each others’ glory. Brady didn’t have to make jokes about Trump, and yet he did. And his jokes landed on four Trump pillars.

As Chait sets out:

Tom Brady [4] visited the White House Tuesday to celebrate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning the Super Bowl, where he joked around with President Biden at Donald Trump’s expense. It was a scene straight out of a Donald Trump nightmare, and quite possibly the worst day of Donald Trump’s life.

Chait then lists Trump’s needs, by levels of importance:

1. To be treated as a winner

2. To pal around with celebrities

3. To not be laughed at

4. To gain the specific approval of Tom Brady

Trump’s special obsession with Brady goes back years, when he would devote his now-suspended [5] Twitter account [6] to vocally defending the quarterback against penalties for using a deflated football.

Remember? We said that Trump talked – often – about Ivanka marrying Tom Brady?  Yes, Trump does have an obsession with the G.O.A.T.

In Trump’s mind, the two men were parallels to each other: both Winners, and natural companions on the basis of their mastery of their respective fields. “He’s a friend of mine, he’s a great guy, and he’s a great athlete obviously, but he’s a winner,” Trump told TMZ [7] in 2016. “I think Tom is totally innocent. I think Tom is — first of all, I know him, he’s such an honorable guy, and I’m with him all the way.” Trump has repeatedly expressed his regret [8] that he “could have had Tom Brady” as his son-in-law, rather than the nerdy Jared Kushner.

But most importantly, Brady had skipped White House events in 2017 and 2019. In other words, Brady never let his presence “grace” Trump’s White House.

Pack it all together and it kicks so much ass that we’ll likely write about it tomorrow, too. Trump may have had the worst day of his life, “loser,” “weak,” “laughed at,” all by Tom Brady, joking it up with his new bromance, “Mr. President,” Joe Biden. Sounds like huge news to us.
