Anti-Vaxxers Using Will Smith Movie to Convince People that Vax Turns People Into Zombies

The New York Times [1] has a report on one company’s difficulty in getting all its employees vaccinated. The report examined how Metro Optics Eyewear has been able to get 90 percent of its staff vaccinated, given the difficulties and doubts about vaccines in this country. The company’s owner and managers agreed that almost all the difficulties arose out of the disinformation coming from various dark corners of the net, places we wouldn’t be able to find with an NSA computer and satellite uplink.

Some were even more “out there” than others:

“One employee said she was concerned because she thought a vaccine had caused the characters in the film ‘I Am Legend’ to turn into zombies. People opposed to vaccines have circulated that claim about the movie’s plot widely on social media. But the plague that turned people into zombies in the movie was caused by a genetically reprogrammed virus, not by a vaccine.”

Hold up, hold up. Are they saying that at no point in time did the fact that this came from a movie not tip them off that this may not be factually reliable information and thus might hold less weight than say… the testimony of the world’s foremost expert in infectious disease like Dr. Fauci? One might have asked them, “Have you ever met a Zombie?”

Sometimes we as liberals love a new mantra, that with respect to mankind, “Evolution Is Over,” because we don’t want life to be a “competition” between the haves and have not, and in many ways, we still don’t. And yet, when someone is going to rely upon a Will Smith movie over the testimony from the CDC, not to mention the records from Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson, etc. you really start to wonder, do we really want…

Can mother nature be held back? She can be slowed down – a little, if we have anything to say about it. But the answer is, “No.” She has a perfect record and she’s not letting us naked apes stand in her way.
