MAGA Sign, ‘I Know More than the Scientists’: Fires Up Twitter as Symbol of Everything Wrong

“Don’t wanna be an American idiot, one nation controlled by the media, do you hear the sounds of hysteria, welcome to the age of paranoia.”

Green Day, American Idiot

The nameless MAGA is proud to tell you that he knows more than the scientists, about COVID, or at least we suspect he’s limited to COVID. If he got cancer tomorrow, would he believe that he knows which veterinary drug might help it? Perhaps bleach? UV Light? Trump did this, Trump knew more than the scientists. Trump has been deified to the point where he brags he knew more than the scientists. They simply follow his lead.

“Do your research.”

One cannot come across more than a half-dozen MAGA posts without being scolded about not having done “your research.” They apparently don’t understand that many of us can “research” quantum mechanics and the measurement problem with the double-slit experiment but know that, in fact, we know fck all about the actual science, with the actual math and philosophy. We can do our “research” for fun, if one finds it interesting, and know 10% of the science, at best.

Do your research, know more than the scientists? If this man’s gall bladder needs to be removed, does he know how to diagnose it and the surgical procedure he needs, along with the medications afterward to prevent infection and fight pain? No.

If this man ever got on a plane (God help us all), does he know the science behind the lift created by the wings? Or the need to balance weight among both wings, to ensure the weight remains in the centered? Hell no. When this man drives a car, does he understand that the heat pressure expands the air and drives the pistons powering the drive train? No, and neither do any of us – unless you’re an engineer that works in the field.

This is so irresponsible and so stupid, so limited to COVID, and so due to Trump, always bragging that he knew more than doctor Fauci, bleach guy, UV light guy that can’t spell:

He has done his research. Evidently, he doesn’t know that people who spent nine long years “researching” (studying) have done their research, too – before they’re even in a position to speak to the matter. It is heartbreaking and enraging.

Don’t wanna be an American idiot, the bar just got lowered. Tough to be one now, gotta do your research to make the club.
