Trump Wars with Kevin McCarthy: ‘He Used to Call Me Everyday, Then He F*CKED Me!’

In an expletive-laced phone call with House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy while the US Capitol was under attack [1], then-President Donald Trump said the rioters cared more about the election results [2] than McCarthy did.

“Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are,” Trump said, according to lawmakers who were briefed on the call afterward by McCarthy.

… McCarthy said; “Who the f–k do you think you are talking to?” according to a Republican lawmaker familiar with the call.

CNN on January 6th Conversation Between Trump-Kevin McCarthy

One tends to get pretty honest when one’s life is on the line and, by every account, McCarthy’s life most certainly was on the line on January 6th. Just because no member of Congress was actually hauled out and harmed, doesn’t mean the crowd wasn’t ready to do so with anyone they found. Thus it was that McCarthy called Trump, trading F-You’s about calling off the rioters, and Trump responded with what sounds like a, “No,” at least not until Trump’s staff told him that he’s getting excoriated on television for inciting the riot.

With the soon-to-be-released Peril by Bob Woodward, a book focused on the last months of the Trump presidency, we’re learning of details and interpretations after the fact. As he does far too often, Trump agreed to talk to Woodward on the record about the details. Trump will never understand that doing so does nothing more than validate the underlying facts uncovered.

Below, we see Trump’s interpretation of the situation, that McCarthy “f*cked him” and we presume this to mean that he didn’t somehow manage to help reverse a national election. It does sound as though Trump came shockingly close, just one man away from shedding the last pathetic bits of democracy remaining in this country.

He pretended to be my best friend, but when he wouldn’t overthrow democracy for me he f*cked me. What an unbelievable statement and near proves to those of us at this site that Trump was in on the general idea of January 6th. McCarthy wouldn’t go along with the attempt. Additionally, to the extent that Merrick Garland refuses to investigate this matter through to the White House, he should be fired. This country’s democracy teetered on the brink and – so far – every indication is that Garland wants to focus on Texas abortion laws over whether we have a constitution, laws, and someone to responsibly enforce them, at all. The DOJ is capable of doing both.

A man with the attitude above is as dangerous as we’ve always known. And yet the current administration is doing all it can to allow him to run yet again, give him another shot at destroying democracy in the United States.
