Trump’s ‘Texas’ Forensic Audit Already in Total Chaos: Cannot Figure Out Why They Are Doing It

“Texans know voting fraud occurred in some of their counties. Let’s get to the bottom of the 2020 presidential election scam!”

Donald Trump, 9-23-2021

To be sure, on the one hand, the desperation is utterly hilarious. And yet, concentrating on it at another level, Trump’s demand for the audit of a state he won rather easily is horrifying. There are two inevitable conclusions. Trump is using this tactic as yet another means to drum up donations because he can say that he’s just “trying to get at the truth,” while at the same time undermining America’s faith in democracy as an institution entirely. MAGAs will eventually see voting as irrelevant, perhaps not holding votes, perhaps skewing them so obviously and egregiously, that the United States functions in the same way Russia functions

Russia does seem to be the model.

Regardless, Trump did demand that Texas audit certain counties. Governor Abbott ordered the audits but there is a problem. The Secretary of State is supposed to handle audits and… well, according to CNN:

The Secretary of State has the authority to conduct a full and comprehensive forensic audit of any election and has already begun the process in Texas’ two largest Democrat counties and two largest Republican counties — Dallas, Harris, Tarrant and Collin for the 2020 election…a handful of Texas counties, officials in many of those counties told CNN they’re still in the dark about the audit plans.”

Abbott’s office referred questions about the audit to the secretary of state’s office. The secretary of state job is currently vacant in Texas and other officials in that office did not respond to requests for comment.

Was the crisis in Afghanistan surrounding the pull out of American Troops Biden's fault or Trump's fault?

It is very hard for an office to comment when there is no boss to determine the actual comment, never mind conduct a recount, or figure out how and why.

“Officials in Dallas, Harris and Tarrant counties said they had not yet received any requests from the secretary of state’s office for information or materials that would be relevant for a post-election audit… One Texas official told CNN that even officials inside the secretary of state’s office were unaware of any audit underway.”

Harris County Elections Administrator Isabel Longoria, who heads up the most populous county in Texas, and one dominated by POC and Democrats fired back: “We have seen countless attempts to delegitimize the 2020 election. Today’s actions represent another attack by officials on our communities’ trust in elections.”

And do there you have it. It is about delegitimizing elections, period. But only in those areas where Democrats vote. Just in case a statewide election is ever “close,” they know where they’re going to look. And Texas is turning purple, and would be purple, perhaps blue, were it not already the hardest state in which to vote. The results in Texas will reverberate throughout the country.

Trump is intent upon destroying democracy in this country. It is almost like he has been ordered to do just that… and how to do go about doing it. It is awfully professional.
