The GOPers from the Trump administration are used to looking to their left, “guarding their 9:00 (I guess that’s what the cops would call it), and that’s normal and safe. They are used to getting blasted by liberals. Indeed, just this Wednesday morning this site has already reported on threats coming from Democrats on the House subcommittee, they are serious and want their witnesses showing up.
So does Liz Cheney and this fire is coming from the right, whether they want to call her a RINO or not.
The US House of Representatives Select Committee investigating the deadly January 6 riot at the Capitol will move criminal contempt charges against those who do not comply with its subpoenas, Representative Liz Cheney, the panel’s vice chair, said.
The committee has already threatened criminal contempt charges against Steve Bannon for refusing to cooperate with the inquiry into the riot, in which a mob of Trump’s supporters stormed the seat of the US government.
Those subpoenaed will have the opportunity to cooperate, but if they do not, the committee will enforce its subpoenas, Cheney, a Republican, told reporters at the US Capitol. She leads the committee along with its chairman, Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson.
Liz Cheney is a woman to keep an eye upon. When the rioting got heavy and the situation looked increasingly worrisome, Jim Jordan approached Cheney with some comment about “We gotta get the ladies out of here,” that Liz had some very choice words for Jordan, such as “Get the fck away from me.” But more interestingly, she said, “YOU did this.”
That is an awfully personal statement in the midst of a crisis and it has always bothered those of us at this site. We suspect that Cheney knows far more than she’s been allowed to say publicly.
It sounds like she’s intent upon hearing some of it publicly from the very people involved in the middle.
