Lindsey Graham Pathetically Defends Ivanka and Jared’s Presence at McCain’s Funeral and It’s Gross

Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is about as big of a Donald Trump sycophant as anyone can get, and he decided to “fact check” Meghan McCain’s claims in her newly released book about Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s unwelcome presence at her father’s funeral, Raw Story reports.

“I saw Ivanka and Jared Kushner sitting towards the back. As far as I knew, they had not been invited, but they showed up anyway,”  said the former co-host of The View. “Funeral crashers. It never even crossed my mind that they would come. Why would you go to something like that? It seemed audacious even for them.”

But Graham seemed to see things differently and in a phone interview with The Washington Post refuted McCain’s claims, asserting that Jared and Ivanka, otherwise known as “Jarvanka,” were, in fact, invited.

We would expect Graham to say these sorts of things because he has his nose so far up Trump’s behind that he can see through the man’s nostrils, but who knows? Maybe they were invited. Graham has, after all, turned brown-nosing the former president into an art form.

“She was upset they were there — I understand that, and she has hard feelings but I know what happened and nobody showed up uninvited,” Graham said. “I love Meghan McCain and I understand how stressful all this has been for her and those who attack her dad will never be forgiven by her.”

A spokesperson for Meghan McCain said she “stands by the accuracy of her memoir.”

One source close to Trump threw shade in McCain’s direction.

“Jared and Ivanka had about as much interest in attending the funeral as they did they did the half dozen or so dinner invitations that [husband Ben Domenesh] and Meghan pestered them with after the funeral,” the source claimed.

The New York Times reported that Graham had “cleared” the couple’s invitation with the senator’s widow. A source connected to the Kushners told the NYT that Cindy McCain, John McCain’s widow had invited the couple through Lindsey Graham.

One can hardly blame Meghan McCain for being upset about this, even though in many ways, she is still a hardline Republican. She was, after all, angry at Vice President Kamala Harris’s tribute to her late father and she has criticized President Joe Biden for his decision that women should be allowed to make their own decisions regarding abortion.

So maybe it’s a good idea not to feel too sorry for McCain. She is who she is. But at least she makes her feelings known about “Jarvanka,” so that’s something. And Graham is who he is — a simpering Trump sycophant. In other words, this is just politics as usual.
