Pro-Trump Senators Hid During the January 6th Riots … and Hid From Democratic Senators as Well

We at this site have become increasingly convinced that there are many in Congress, both in the House and the Senate, that know far more about how the January 6th came about than they’ve ever let on. We keep pointing to the fact that during the riot, Liz Cheney screamed at Jim Jordan (who, ironically, was trying to help “the ladies”) “You fcking did this, you did this!” It sounds awfully personal and she sounds awfully sure of herself.

So, as one might imagine, people talk, especially in Congress, and some might know far more than they let on. Mitch McConnell asked Senators to vote against an investigation as a “personal favor,” don’t tell us Mitch doesn’t know “something.”

So it is interesting to read in the Washington Post today that during the January 6th riot, some Senators hid… not from the rioters, but from other Senators:

Tommy Tuberville had a decision to make. So did the other Republican senators huddling with him in the storage closet. It was Jan. 6, right-wing rioters were ransacking the U.S. Capitol, but these lawmakers were already in a secured part of the complex and had been milling about a hearing room with a larger group of senators. They weren’t hiding from the mob. They were hiding from their colleagues.

The group, led by Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), had planned to object to the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential campaign — a gesture of solidarity with President Donald Trump, who had spent months trying to overturn his loss. The siege of the Capitol by Trump’s supporters, however, had some lawmakers thinking that formally objecting to Biden’s victory might be a bad look.

It is not like their colleagues didn’t know that they were the ones that objected. Did their colleagues now put two and two together and figure out what might have been planned all alone?  We cannot tell with any certainty.

All we know is that it is odd, given that literally, everyone knows who was objecting to what… so why hide? Actually, why not maybe use the opportunity to apologize? Perhaps they were not apologetic?
