We reported on Trump’s statement regarding Colin Powell this morning and we noted that even though every sentient global citizen had been in agreement that Trump long ago hit bottom, and yet he managed to find yet another means to step down another story. He basically slammed a guy while talking about himself the day after the passing of a great statesman, perhaps worse than John McCain.
To review Trump’s statement and get to reactions:
Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called WMD’s, be treated so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to slam other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace.
Right. But anyway, fck off.
Let’s just compare another loyal MAGA’s statement, just to sort of see what might’ve otherwise have been the MAGA standard. Here is Mike Pence:
Colin Powell was a true American Patriot who served our Nation with distinction in uniform, as a four-star general, National Security Advisor, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and as 65th Secretary of State. Karen and I are praying for his wife, Alma, and the entire Powell family.
Trump hates Powell primarily because the General wouldn’t support Trump, which means he didn’t support Pence, and yet Mike Pence manages to summon the minimum grace one would expect (and we mean minimum because even Pence’s statement isn’t anything special).
The nation may not have “loved” Powell because he didn’t seek “love.” His job was always about completing the mission and the nation had incredible respect for Powell, which ultimately led to a great deal of affection for the man, despite the fact that he followed orders at the U.N.
And thus it was that the nation unleashed a wave of anger that even we have rarely seen.
The statement was so awful that both Trump supporters and detractors had trouble believing it was real:
It's real, Trump's spokeswoman shared it today. She tweets all his statements for him.https://t.co/kOGAefj0S4 [1]

It is real:
Trump mocks Colin Powell because, of course, Donald is jealous of the news coverage of the general and Secretary of State's death.
Such a classy guy, that Donald.https://t.co/jk4SKpcv8K [3]— David Cay Johnston (@DavidCayJ) October 19, 2021 [4]
Hard to believe the former president who savaged McCain and John Dingell after they passed wasn’t more gracious tho

Folks ,this missive by *the former guy*is the picture
of sheer evil-How horribly insecure he (and those who have a need for his approval) is.This is Who @LindseyGrahamSC [6] @ChuckGrassley [7] @kevinomccarthy [8] admire and want to be seen with-

I normally wouldn't retweet any of this but this one's so spectacular, so jealous of the coverage and so very lazy it's truly a masterpiece of the format. https://t.co/UKXdPjflk4 [12]

Imagine, just imagine, if a Democrat and especially Squad member had put out a statement like this mocking Powell’s death. Republicans & media would be up in arms. But it’s Trump, so we all just shrug and move on. He is graded on a totally different curve to the rest of the world https://t.co/Kns8zV3RuS [14]

This line from Trump's Colin Powell statement stood out for me, considering the source.
"He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans."

He is so mentally ill and desperate. Trump’s mistakes cost hundreds of thousands of lives.

Trump’s statement about Colin Powell tells you everything you need to know about what sort of person he is.
Still amazing that 74 million people voted for him — AFTER watching four years of this behavior.

Defend this statement, ANY Republican. Please. Try. pic.twitter.com/qgp4VW0ioO [19]

Rather than retweet Trump's statement on Colin Powell, further polluting this website, I think I will just tweet Powell's 13 rules, which are helpful rules that Trump appears to have never followed. https://t.co/EmKSUe2hhu [21]

Reading – but deliberately not sharing – Trump’s statement on the passing of Colin Powell is another reminder there really is no bottom.

No one on this staff. Why can’t mother nature be a bit more selective? The world would be a better place today.
