Michael Cohen Says There’s No Way Trump Runs a Second Time — Too Fragile an Ego to Risk Losing Twice

Interesting.

Honest to dogs, I just wrote in my newsletter, almost as an afterthought, that I didn’t think Trump would run in 2024 and I wrote that – again, ask the dogs, they never lie – before I just saw a clip of Michael Cohen saying the same thing for the exact same reason.

There is not a chance in hell that Donald Trump is going to risk losing twice.

The first time he ran, in 2016, he wasn’t supposed to win. There have been a lot of people that have written credible reports that he didn’t want to win. Does anyone recall the look in his eyes the night of his “great victory” in 2016? It was the one and only time I’ve seen him look scared sh*tless, and that’s just one of the reasons why I think that he and the Russians were colluding, considerably. He never thought he’d win and on that night, hours after he learned he won, he feared getting caught, he could’ve gotten caught on any number of things.

So, the decision to run in 2016 was a “no lose” situation because he was going to lose, and then he “won” and felt a bit like a loser until someone got to him and said it would be okay. He could do things differently. Then it became good.

The only race he ran where he wanted to win and he expected to win was 2020 and he was so humiliated – losing by 7 million, that he tried overthrowing the government rather than conceding he lost. He can ride that wave, the “I won, it was rigged. Everyone knows it.” and just continue to pretend the rest of his life.

He could never, ever, do that if he lost a second time. There is just way too much riding on the line. Besides, he’ll continue to make money anyway and still exert some control. He can say he didn’t run for some health reasons.

But here is Michael Cohen, getting the numbers wrong, but the idea right.

The one possible variable? The Republicans changing the voting laws so much, some along with some help from his “friends,” and a down Democratic field (for some reason), then it’s possible because it would be almost impossible to lose.

But I agree with Michael Cohen, who was right about the fact that Donald Trump would never willingly relinquish power.
