DeSantis Touts His Pro-Life Cred While Still Preventing Masks in Schools and is Twitter is Enraged

We are going to start off on a positive note because we have been plenty negative with Ron DeSantis and will be very negative again in the following paragraphs. But let’s get one good thing out.

DeSantis didn’t start his talk to the Florida legislature about protecting the life of the unborn. Rather, he talked about doing more for the already born… with respect to adoptions and foster care, that being pro-life means after birth, too. (Had he just included some real maternity rights and criminalize any father that doesn’t pay and give a 50% effort, he would have hit the liberal home run…. provided he protected a woman’s right to choose for her body, there would be many fewer abortions.

We hate to say it, but DeSantis is right.  Being “Pro-Choice” doesn’t just mean having the right to an abortion, but also the choice to easily find a family to adopt the baby and a strong foster care system ready to help in the interim. DeSantis burnished his pro-life credentials by saying that he funded 4,000 more counselors for adoption and foster care with 4,000 more in two years. Great.

We must give women far better choices. but the ultimate choice must lie with the woman.

Of course, all of this comes right amidst the specter of Omicron infecting every single person in America at the same time, with DeSantis being the only governor, of whom we’re aware, that both disallowed any school district or school to require masks. Some people will die, people who didn’t have to. Additionally, DeSantis is the only governor, of which we know, who thinks that “freedom” is so important that he will take away a business’s freedom to keep unvaccinated people outside, where they belong and order that private business let the virus-infested folks in.

Florida, very “pro young young life” but eventually, especially if one got oneself adopted, you’re on your own, kid. Good luck! And just sit and pray that the next COVID variant doesn’t hit children harder than adults. There is no “rule” that it can’t.

Twitter could barely breathe through the irony haze:

Yep.
