Election 2020

Former Trump Adviser Katrina Pierson Allegedly Called Some of His Supporters ‘Crazies’

You may remember Katrina Pierson, who served as the national spokesperson for the Donald Trump Campaign in 2015. After the election, she was offered a position as Deputy Press Secretary with the administration but turned that down to work for America First Policies, a pro-Trump PAC. She rejoined the Donald Trump for President campaign in 2018 where she worked for 2 years and 10 months, according to her LinkedIn profile.

But then Pierson, a major Tea Party advocate, seemed to disappear into the shadows. At least that is until recently when she was subpoenaed by Select Committee investigating the Capitol riot, according to Newsweek. The Committee is alleging Pierson helped organize the “Stop The Steal” rally at the Ellipse. Of those subpoenaed, many are fighting this, including it seems former President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka.

However, it looks like Pierson may have complied and has turned over at least some of the documents requested. Among those documents? Text messages.

At one point in at least some of her text messages, she allegedly used the term “crazies” to describe a “number” of Trump’s supporters the Select Committee reports. That assertion became public in a letter to Ivanka Trump. It requested that she voluntarily meet with the committee.

One big reason the committee wants to speak with the former first daughter is to discuss alleged efforts that were made to disassociate the former president from certain people. It’s been revealed that Fox News host Sean Hannity likely texted former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany to develop a “five-point approach” for speaking with Trump.

Hannity was encouraging White House staff to keep Trump away from “crazy people” according to the text. It’s reported that McEnany agreed with Hannity on this.

Pierson pointed out to Newsweek a tweet where she described who she believed the “crazies” are. In her post, she writes that “crazies” refers to people who weren’t necessarily Trump supporters until they figured out that “over the top controversial/divisive rhetoric and chaos could build personal wealth and social media followers at the expense of actual Trump supporters and Trump himself.”

These people, she noted, are the “ultimate grifters.”

Pierson was subpoenaed along with ten other organizers of the Jan. 6 rally. Subpoenaed in September, she was given a deadline of November 3 to turn the documents over. Of special consideration for the committee was a meeting Pierson allegedly had with Trump in the Oval Office on Jan. 4. It’s purported that Trump asked if another rally could be arranged and if Roger Stone and Ali Alexander, a Stop The Steal organizer could talk at the rally.

It’s alleged Pierson told the former president the rally was in the works.

“I look forward to the committee report along with the exoneration of thousands of Americans, including several Texans, who participated in a legitimate and constitutionally protected rally that had nothing to do with the events that took place at the United States Capitol,” Pierson told The Dallas Morning News.

At this point, it isn’t clear if Ivanka will meet with the Jan.6 Select Committee. But the committee is hoping to uncover just what conversations Ivanka and dear old dad had on the day of the Capitol siege. It’s been reported that Ivanka was present for a phone call between Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence on Jan. 6. The committee is also trying to seek out any other conversations the president’s eldest daughter may have witnessed or taken part in regarding her father’s plans to obstruct the counting of electoral votes.

It’s good that Pierson has come forward, let’s hope others who have been served will also come forward, especially Ivanka, who quite obviously has some things to account for.
