Ivanka Makes it Clear She Wants Nothing to Do With J6 Committee and Twitter is in Hysterics
While her father was president, eldest daughter Ivanka Trump served as an adviser in the Trump administration, and she is likely to be one of the next targets of the January 6, Committee, The Independent reports.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Committee Chair Bennie Thompson said will soon issue a request for Ivanka’s involuntary testimony. Ivanka was the only direct blood relative to work under her father in the administration, doing so along with her husband Jared Kushner, who hasn’t been named a target of interest to the committee.
Of course, anyone who understands Ivanka at all knows there’s about as much chance of her voluntarily as there is of finding gold on the moon. She can refuse the committee’s request but if she does that, she’ll likely face a subpoena from the panel. But refusing subpoenas are nothing new to her or her brother Donald Trump Jr. since both are refusing to comply with ones issued by New York Attorney General Letitia James earlier this month, in an unrelated case. The committee has issued notices to several inside Trump’s inner circle as it continues its hour-by-hour investigation of the Capitol riot.
In his letter to Ivanka Trump, which was released by the committee, lawmakers on the panel reveal that they have evidence suggesting she fielded requests from White House staffers who asked her to intervene and push her father to act, by calling federal agencies and requesting law enforcement or the National Guard be deployed.
“Testimony obtained by the committee indicates that members of the White House Staff requested your assistance on multiple occasions to intervene in an attempt to persuade President Trump to address the ongoing lawlessness and violence on Capitol Hill,” Thompson’s letter reads.

In the minutes that followed up, Ivanka Trump offered up a statement to NBC News, that was, well, a bit weird.
Rather than address that issue, Ivanka instead noted she was not on the speaking list for the rally held outside the White House for her father, who proceeded to goad his supporters to surge into the street to the Capitol and “fight like hell” for his baseless and false claims about the 2020 election.
“Ivanka Trump just learned that the January 6 Committee issued a public letter asking her to appear,” said a spokesperson for her. “As the Committee already knows, Ivanka did not speak at the January 6 rally.”
“As she publicly that day at 3:15 p.m., ‘any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable,” the spokesperson continued. “The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful.”
Pressed whether the statement means Ivanka Trump will not comply with the invitation to talk to the Jan. 6 committee, her spokesperson did not respond.

Oh for crying in the beer, no one can tell me that Ivanka is too stupid to understand that the committee wants to know what steps she took to encourage her father to stop the violence. There are questions about why it took so long for the National Guard to appear on scene and undoubtedly myriad more questions than that.
It has been reported previously that Liz Cheney, the GOP member on the committee said Ivanka twice asked her father to step in during the attack, but he rebuffed her.
“We know that his daughter — we have firsthand testimony that his daughter Ivanka went in at least twice to ask him to “please stop this violence,” Cheney told ABC News.
“We are learning much more about what former President Trump was doing while the violent assault was underway,” she said.
That’s encouraging. I hope the committee learns everything necessary to ensure justice is served. Trump callously watched on while people died and democracy was very nearly destroyed. So let’s hope the committee continues a very thorough investigation.
Twitter had a field day:
The January 6th Committee has asked Ivanka Trump to sit for an interview, but she'll only agree if it's on Donald's lap.

The bad news for Ivanka Trump this week just keeps getting worse for her. The January 6th Committee has formally asked her to cooperate. If she refuses, she’ll be subpoenaed, then referred for criminal contempt and she’ll face prison time. This is on top of the New York AG news.

January 6 committee should have Ivanka testify publicly

Should the January 6 Committee SUBPOENA Ivanka Trump instead of asking her nicely?

The New York State Attorney General and the 1/6 House Select Committee investigating 1/6 both want to talk to Ivanka Trump. Who thinks her father would throw her under the bus to remain untouched?

My thoughts today with @AnaCabrera on why Ivanka Trump's testimony to the Committee matters…and doesn't matter (given how much they already clearly know) pic.twitter.com/BCrjQ9hnPI
