Michael Cohen Says Trump Won’t Protect His Kids From Prison (Though Don Jr. Should Be Jailed Over Ivanka)

Many people don’t appreciate just how closely Ivanka and Don Jr. came to being prosecuted by the Manhattan D.A. for fraud having to do with the SoHO project in which they both blatantly misrepresented the financial health of the project to prospective investors. Link:

In the spring of 2012, Donald Trump’s two eldest children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr., found themselves in a precarious legal position. For two years, prosecutors in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office had been building a criminal case against them…

They basically had Ivanka and Jr. caught cold with emails showing they knew they were inflating values – fraud. Enter Trump’s biggest attorney:

But in 2012, Kasowitz donated $25,000 to the reelection campaign of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., making Kasowitz one of Vance’s largest donors. Kasowitz decided to bypass the lower level prosecutors and went directly to Vance to ask that the investigation be dropped.

It was dropped. Amidst all of this, Trump apparently told his “fixer, Michael Cohen, that if one of his kids had to go to prison over the family business to “make sure” it was Donald Jr., not Ivanka.

It is not that insane to say that a lot of fathers might have said the same thing, almost as chivalry, though we’re not sure how Cohen was supposed to direct which of the children (adults) go to jail.

“And Donald said it to me – I mean I wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t said directly to me – he goes ‘if one or the other has to go to prison, make sure that it’s Don because Don would be able to handle it.’”

As according to Business Insider, Cohen, who even went to jail for Trump — went on MSNBC and lent his expertise to the question on many minds: Would Trump cooperate with authorities to save his children from prison? Cohen’s answer (with a little laugh signifying it was an obvious answer): “Not a chance.” He added, “Donald cares only about Donald, more than he would care about his children.”

What a nice father. I guess I can understand saying a male child could handle prison more than a female child. But Trump said Don Jr., not Eric. And let’s be real, Ivanka is Donald’s true love. Which makes what Cohen said even more surprising. Would Trump actually let his darling Ivanka take the fall for his crimes? Trump is 75, Ivanka is 40 with young children. Really?

Nothing surprises us about Donald anymore. Nothing.
