Lara Trump, let’s all agree on this, is an absolute nobody. She is a woman who married the guy who is arguably the dumbest son of a former president and knows absolutely nothing more about anything political than anyone else in the country. The fact that the daughter-in-law of a former president is still paid to be some sort of political analyst on Fox is a testament to the cultish nature of the MAGAs. Lara is part divinity by marrying into the family, or at least a dutchess or princess.

The Los Angeles Times has the only information available on the tragedy in California today. The suspect is a 68-year-old Asian man originally from Las Vegas and the victims were elderly Taiwanese.

Tom Cramer, leader of the Presbytery of Los Ranchos and a former pastor at the Geneva Presbyterian Church, said the shooting happened at a lunch reception honoring the former pastor of the Taiwanese church, who is returning to Taiwan to lead a congregation there. Cramer did not know if the pastor was harmed in the shooting.

The Irvine Taiwanese Presbyterian Church has been holding services at Geneva for 10 years, Cramer said.

“They are sisters and brothers in Christ. They have been good friends with us,” he said. “This is a shock to us that anything like this would happen.”

Speaking on her Fox program, the daughter-in-law of the former president claimed, with no sense of irony, that it’s “very dangerous” when you have a president “who just kind of says crazy-sounding things.”

Quite obviously, none of us know the motive. It is just as obvious that Lara knows even less because if one was going to “guess” at a motive, it would likely be that the shooter knew someone or something about the Taiwanese congregation that made his sick mind act. Now, that is a guess, but it’s a more informed guess than Lara’s idiotic and deeply offensive statement, making it political, one day after we had a huge mass shooting with a right-wing political manifesto that wasn’t that much more outrageous than one would hear on Fox on any given night.

We won’t even go over “stupid statements.” Entire treatises will be written about the impacts of Trump’s stupid statements.
