Select Committee Negotiating with Bill Barr Over Full Transcribed Interview — And it Could Be Very Bad for Trump

We are moving toward the end game now.

Having just published a story regarding the Select Committee asking one of its colleagues, Rep. Loudermilk of Louisiana, to appear before it in order to discuss a tour Loudermilk gave of the Capitol on January 5th, it doesn’t seem entirely unrelated that on the same day we would hear that the Committee wants to interview Bill Barr with the entire matter transcribed.

The transcription is the important part because the Committee has spoken with Bill Barr informally before and got valuable information. But now they want it down on paper, perhaps sworn, according to Axios:

President Trump’s attorney general Bill Barr is in active discussions with the Jan. 6th investigative committee to appear for a formal transcribed interview, according to two sources with direct knowledge.

We can only imagine how helpful Barr’s testimony must be to the committee.

Driving the news: Barr is likely to cooperate with the committee, according to a source familiar with his thinking.

Barr is a critical witness as Axios notes:

As Axios previously reportedTrump berated Barr repeatedly to get the Justice Department to declare the 2020 election stolen. Barr refused. Barr told Trump in a meeting on December 1, 2020 that his theories about a stolen election were “bullshit.” Barr also called Trump’s new legal team at the time “clownish.”

Former AG Barr says he wouldn’t have prosecuted Trump for Jan. 6 or taking classified documents.

Additionally, in and around the period that the Committee initially talked to Barr, we learned a lot about what went on with Trump behind the scenes.

From Rolling Stone:

That plan included identifying someone to replace Barr, who went against the Trump narrative that the election was stolen, saying that there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud. “We do know that a potential person was identified to become the attorney general of the United States, who would communicate with certain states that election on their situation had been fraudulent and not to produce certified documents,” Thompson said. “Well, we understand that. So, we will move forward on that investigation, and we will look and see specifically how far that plan went.”

At the time we recall hearing Committee members state that they needed Barr to testify to the entire nation, that the power of his anger and what he saw was something that people needed to see and feel. Hopefully, we are getting there.
