As more details continue to be revealed about Ivanka Trump’s testimony in front of the Jan. 6 committee in April, it has some people, including Queerty’s [1] Graham Gremore [2] wondering if dear old dad will chop her out of the will. If he hasn’t already. But Gremore adds that hubby Jared Kushner did ink a $2 billion deal with the Saudi Crown Prince last month. So I’m sure being surgically removed from dad’s will may mean Ivanka’s not all that worried.
That’s a good thing because Ivanka did spill lotsa beans when she talked to the committee. In an interview with CNN this week Rep. Bennie Thompson said Ivanka helped “fill in a lot of the gaps” during her eight-hour testimony about the role her former president father played in the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection.
“There were questions asked about what she was doing at the time that the insurrection was occurring at the Capitol,” Thompson said, “and she told us.
Thompson notes both Ivanka and Jared, who spoke to the committee in March, didn’t actually testify against Donald Trump or give up any “trade secrets,” they did, however, corroborate testimony from other witnesses who said the former president deliberated for hours [3] after being told to stop his followers from their attack.
“They kinda supported the fact that the president was told he had to do something to stop the January 6 insurrection,” Thompson said. “That he had to be public with it; he had to be direct. So in that respect … we have been able to systematically, with our depositions and interviewing of other witnesses, we’ve been able to fill in a lot of the gaps.”
If you remember, Mary Trump, predicted last January that this is what Ivanka would do — flip on her father if it suited her best interests.
“She knows she has to come down on the right side of things,” Mary Trump said in an interview with MSNBC’s Alex Witt. “Or, she’ll continue to stay her father’s ally and have to see how that plays out.”
Mary added Ivanka is likely calculating what will “help her best in the long run.”
“She’s in a very bad situation because she must understand that if Donald feels it’s necessary, he will stop protecting her.”
I still wouldn’t be surprised if he did this. No one is sacred, including his favorite daughter if he thinks the odds are stacked against him.
