Boebert’s Restaurant Kicked Out of Building: New Landlord Cites ‘Moral’ Reasons and Will Lease to a Different Restaurant

According to The Daily Beast, it appears that Lauren Boebert’s restaurant, Shooters Grill, will be shutting down, perhaps by the end of the month and it sounds like it is directly related to politics. There have been recent revelations that Boebert left the scene of a four-wheeler accident in 2020, and some questioned whether Boebert was being “Cawthorned.” Now it appears that the restaurant will be shutting down in and around the time of the Colorado primary.

As the Beast writes: [1]

Shooters Grill, the gun-themed Hooters parody restaurant that put Rifle, Colorado, on the map and elevated Boebert to local celebrity status, has run into some trouble with its new landlord—a marijuana retailer.

Boebert told The Daily Beast that she and her husband, Jayson Boebert, had been surprised to receive the notice last week announcing that their lease would not be renewed. The building’s ownership changed hands last month, she said, and now Shooters would either have to find new digs or shut down for good.

Okay, so that is semi-normal. A new landlord who might want to open a marijuana distillery. That is plausible and possibly non-political. And yet it gets weirder:

But the day after that notice arrived, an anti-Boebert political group somehow got word that the timeline was even tighter than that—two weeks, the group said, putting the possible ouster just days before Republicans hit the polls for primary day.

And this is where it get ever more weird (is that possible with Boebert?): “A person familiar with the arrangement said the property manager felt he had a “moral” imperative to close the business, and had planned to lease the space to another restaurant.”

Now, given that timeline, it sort of looks primarily political. The Daily Beast says that at one point Boebert was fine with closing the restaurant but now she and her husband are planning on fighting it, or at least putting it off until after the primary (again, looking political in nature).

Now she says she’s entertaining two contradictory options: The original shutdown plan, or buying the building outright from the new owners. She won’t say which she and her husband are choosing until after the primary.

Boebert owns the Shooters Grill in Rifle, CO and apparently won’t be around for long.

Interesting. Is she being Cawthorned? We will see.
