Elon Musk’s Daughter Disowns Her Father and Legally Files to Change Her Name

Elon Musk’s 18-year-old daughter apparently wants nothing to do with her billionaire father and has legally changed her name in order to disassociate with him, according to legal filings revealed on Monday.

“I no longer live or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form,” she stated in a petition for a name change and a new birth certificate, The Guardian reports.

She also changed her gender recognition from male to female after turning 18, which is the age of consent in California.

The documents, filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court last April in Santa Monica, were revealed in online media reports. Her name is currently redacted in the online document. Her mother is Justine Wilson, who married Musk in 2000 and divorced him in 2008. They have five children and Musk also has two other children with singer Grimes.

Elon and Justine were together from 2000 to 2008

In a tweet Tuesday, Wilson said she is proud of her daughter.

There aren’t any further details regarding the split between Musk and his daughter. As the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk is the world’s richest man. And unless you’re dead or in a coma you already know he’s engaged in a gargantuan $44 billion bid to take over Twitter. And on Tuesday, Twitter’s board recommended shareholders approve the proposed sale, according to a regulatory filing. Musk has consistently reiterated his hopes to move forward with the acquisition of the social media platform, especially as he spoke during a virtual meeting with Twitter employees. He has indicated there are still several “unresolved matters” to be worked through in relation to the deal, however.

Musk and ex-partner Grimes, who is the mother to two of his children, son X Æ A-Xii or “X” and daughter Exa Dark Sideræl or “Y”.

But Musk is also criticizing media outlets for intruding on his daughter’s right to privacy, noting in a statement to the Daily Beast:

“She does not want to be a public figure,” he said. “I think it is important to defend her right to privacy. Please don’t out someone against their will — it’s not right.” Per The Guardian, Musk didn’t respond to additional request for comment.

A hearing to finalize the name change will be held later in June.

I wish his young daughter all the luck in the world. I hope she has all the proper foundations and support to deal with this change. I can see where it would be incredibly difficult growing up with this man who has an outer space-sized ego.
