Fox Host: We Never Have to Tell Republicans ‘Don’t Riot,’ January 6th Was Just an ‘Unguided Tour’

You may or may not have noticed that liberals didn’t burn the country to the ground last night. But that didn’t stop Fox and other right-wing outlets from talking about the violence that was about to happen or would happen because of the loss of abortion rights. Fox hosts are free to continue to talk about the violence that “is to come,” but to the chagrin of Fox producers, there is no video to go with it. Do not put it past them to drag up video from 2020 and label it as “progressive violence,” inviting the viewer to believe it was recently shot.

Meanwhile, there is a lot of video of the violence that occurred on January 6th, much of it shown very recently by the House Select Committee as part of its public hearings. This violence included beating police officers. The entire day has been connected – convincingly – to Trump’s initial lies about the election.

And yet yesterday, Fox’s Greg Gutfeld, in predicting violence that never occurred, also pronounced that people who were on what amounted to an “unguided tour” are rotting in prison, which is 100% not true. Very very few of the January 6th insurrectionists remain in jail awaiting trial and the ones that are in jail are the most dangerous, the ones willing to beat police officers to within an inch of their lives. He also said Republicans don’t riot.

Hosts of The Five reacted to the landmark Supreme Court ruling overturning the constitutional right to abortion on Friday. During the gabfest, the table discussed the possibility of subsequent violence.

“Why would they be doing that?” Katie Pavlich asked Greg Gutfeld, setting up his response. “What’s the purpose of the fence outside the Supreme Court today?

“That’s the funny thing,” he answered. “We never have to tell our fans or Republicans, ‘Don’t riot.’ Meanwhile, you know, some guy walks around in an unguided tour on January 6 and he’s in jail for life or however long he’s been in jail.”

Never have to tell their fans or Republicans to not riot? Someone hasn’t watched the hearings. Someone slept through January 6th. Someone is lying. Trump told his people to riot.
