Election 2020

Ginni Thomas Gets All Cocky and Says She ‘Can’t Wait’ to Talk to the January 6th Committee

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is all excited about speaking with the House select committee that’s investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. That’s what she told right-wing rag The Daily Caller on Thursday.

Media reports have shown there have been emails between Ginni Thomas and an attorney for the Trump Campaign, and that has piqued the House’s interest. The panel announced earlier in the day that it intends to seek Thomas’s testimony, The Hill reports.

“I can’t wait to clear up misconceptions,” Thomas told The Daily Caller. “I look forward to talking to them.”

The conservative media outlet said it pushed Thomas for details, but none were apparently forthcoming.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), chair of the Jan. 6 panel told reporters on Thursday that the committee plans to send Thomas an invitation to speak “at some point,” in the coming weeks.

Thomas’s statement was likely prompted by a report Wednesday by The Washington Post that revealed the committee received emails between Thomas and Trump campaign attorney John Eastman, who circulated a memo that laid out a strategy for then-Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The Post reported the existence of the emails but noted its sources declined to provide further details about the communications.

Thomas’s attempts to overturn the election have received fusillades of criticism from the Democrats but it seems more and more information about her intentions is coming to the surface. The Post revealed Friday that Thomas fired off 29 emails to Arizona lawmakers in an effort to overturn President Joe Biden’s win in the state.

Of course, Ginni Thomas’s attempts to subvert the election raise all kinds of ethical questions over her husband’s role in deciding cases connected to the election and the Jan. 6 riot. Clarence Thomas has maintained that his decisions are not in any way connected to his wife’s activism.

But there’s also more scuttlebutt involving John Eastman, with The New York Times reporting Wednesday evening that Eastman, in an email dated December 24, 2020, claimed to have knowledge of a “heated fight” between the SCOTUS justices about whether to hear a case related to then-President Trump’s efforts to overturn the election.

Eastman played a huge part in the panel’s televised hearing Thursday, as the committee sought to highlight Trump and his allies’ attempts to pressure Pence as Jan. 6 drew near.

At one point, a formal federal judge, who served as an informal advisor to the former vice president told the committee that Pence would have led an unconstitutional revolution if he had followed the memo’s directions.

We can all be glad Pence didn’t do this. It’s not just that this would be unconstitutional — another four years of Trump would be unthinkable.
