‘Lock Him Up Now!’: Americans Still in Absolute Shock That Trump Said Mike Pence ‘Deserved’ To Be Hanged

Delivering her opening remarks Thursday at the Jan. 6 committee’s first public hearing, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming), co-Chair of the House panel investigating the insurrection, commented that while rioters in the surging mob were chanting “hang Mike Pence” then-president Donald Trump suggested to his aides that perhaps his own vice president deserved to be hung, Insider reports.

“Aware of the rioters chants’ to ‘hang Mike Pence,’ the president responded with this sentiment: ‘Maybe our supporters have the right idea,’ Mike Pence deserves it,” Cheney said.

Cheney’s comments corroborate a story published last month in The New York Times — that two former staffers testified before the January 6 committee that Mark Meadows, then Trump’s chief of staff told them he heard Trump make the comment about hanging Pence.

She didn’t fail to note Trump’s stubbornness in repeatedly ignoring Capitol Hill leaders who urged him to stop the deadly riot. Instead, it took him a whopping 187 minutes to release a video telling his followers to stop the attack. To be fair, Trump spent some of that time re-taping the video, but he also told the mob they were “very special people.”

Five more hearings are scheduled for this month that will present new findings regarding the insurrection and they can be viewed online or on major television networks (except Fox News where they prefer to ignore reality).

Cheney has become one of Trump’s toughest adversaries and her remarks were on point.

“Over multiple months, Donald Trump oversaw and coordinated a sophisticated seven-part plan to overturn the presidential election and prevent the transfer of presidential power,” Cheney pointed out. “In our hearings, you will see evidence of each element of this plan.”

Insider reports that more than 860 people have been charged in connection with the riot. But out of that number, only 306 individuals have pleaded guilty.

Just think: Trump is a man who can barely spell — judging from his now irrelevant Twitter rantings. But somehow he helped coordinate this seven-part plan that very nearly destroyed democracy. The man makes wallpaper paste appear intelligent by comparison and yet he very nearly pulled this off.

Nearly. But are we going to be ready for this if he runs for president again? Or if some other clown tries to pull this stunt?

Twitter was absolutely shocked:
