Makes Perfect Sense: Trump Lawyer John Eastman Begged Rudy to Put Him on Pardon List

From Forbes:

A former White House lawyer fed up with Trump legal advisor John Eastman’s push to overturn the results of the 2020 election advised Eastman to “get a great f’ing criminal defense lawyer” after the January 6 riot, according to testimony released by the January 6 committee ahead of its next hearing, which will focus on the Trump team’s effort to somehow get former Vice President Mike Pence to block President Joe Biden’s win.

Eastman is the one who pushed the legal theory that even he purportedly told Trump was illegal, the theory that Pence could send the Electors back to the states for further evaluation (in which case they likely would not have been counted, and Trump would have won an election in the House of Representatives).

It is interesting that Eastman – who knew he was taking serious risks in pushing these theories – turned right around and asked for a pardon after January 6th. From Mediaite:

The third day of January 6 hearings included a stunning revelation that lawyer John Eastman emailed Rudy Giuliani to request a pardon from then-President Donald Trump.

Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), the committee member then leading the hearing, brought up an email from Eastman to Giuliani, in which Eastman “requested he be included on a list of recipients of a presidential pardon.

His e-mail states, quote, ‘I’ve decided that I should be on the pardon list if that is still in the works.’”

On the days after January 6th, a lot of people wanted to ensure that they had a pardon for their roles going into January 6th, including ten representatives. There are likely more.
