Mike Pence Says That Joe Biden Lies More Than Any Other President He’s Seen — And Says it With a Straight Face

Maybe Mike Pence lives in an alternate reality from the rest of us. I say this because on Monday he said “never in my lifetime” had he seen a president lie as much as Joe Biden.

This is um, a bit jarring when you consider he spent four years working for President Donald Trump, epic teller of lies. The Washington Post, as of January 24, 2021, found he told at least 30,573 “false or misleading claims,” during his presidency.

But on Larry Kudlow’s Fox Business show Monday, Pence sat with Kudlow for an interview. Kudlow asked Pence about Biden’s claims regarding inflation, something that Kudlow claimed Biden was failing to take responsibility for, by instead blaming it on the war in Ukraine, Business Insider reports.

Kudlow is also a former member of the Trump administration, having run the National Economic Council from 2018 to the conclusion of the Trump administration in January 2021.

Despite what we know about January 6th, Pence is still out there protecting Trump, who lied more than any other president in history.

So of course the Fox Business host continued the Biden blame game.

“Have you ever seen a president who refuses to accept blame, and I want to add to that, commits so many falsehoods?” Kudlow asked. “I’m being polite here, calling it falsehoods—falsehoods, you know on any given day. He’s out there saying stuff that just aint true. Have you ever seen anything like that?”

And of course, Pence responded that he hadn’t.

“Never in my lifetime,” the former vice president noted. “I said today that there has never been a time in my life where a president was more disconnected from the American people than we see today.”

Pence must have a short memory. And his comments also puzzled critics, since Trump was so proficient at spinning tall tales.

While Trump was in office, fact-checkers pretty much had full-time jobs in trying to keep up with him, because he made false statements almost daily. Sometimes multiple times in just one speech, or during an interview to suit his needs.

Biden’s record isn’t the picture of perfection either. Fact-checkers have caught him making false or misleading statements on such subjects as the U.S. retreat from Afghanistan, utility savings, and the Second Amendment during his time in office. His misstatements do not in any way approach those made by Trump while he was in office, however. That’s evident when you take a look at this list from Politifact.

The Washington Post claims Trump lied 30,573 times over 4 years. One thing Trump didn’t lie about? When he said he thought Mike Pence should’ve be hanged, as his supporters suggested.

So I don’t know what Pence is trying to do here. He’s either trying to gin up support for a potential presidential run in 2024, or he’s trying to curry favor with his former boss, who suggested, at one point, that perhaps Pence should be hanged for not subverting the 2020 election.

It’s not a good look, either way.
