Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Notorious Trophy Hunter Riaan Naude Killed In South Africa

Murder is never acceptable. Ever. In no way is this story to be read as somehow justified. Man has the right to punish but not to kill.

A person who spent a lifetime “hunting” trophy animals has been killed. We put “hunting” in quotes because it is not really hunting when every single advantage is given to the person. Trophy animals are not hunted to be eaten or to nourish anyone, as opposed to the way nature is set up. Seeking out only “trophy animals” is just that, taking the life of an animal as a “trophy” of dominance and it is wrong in every way. We have seen the Trump kids get into this kind of trophy hunting and it fits, it truly fits the way they see the world.

From Newsweek:

A wildlife trophy hunter, who had previously posted on social media about animals he had killed, was found shot to death in South Africa, according to reports. Riaan Naude was found dead next to his vehicle in the South African province of Limpopo, about 3 miles from Mokopane on June 8, according to a report by the Daily Mirror.

South African Police Service spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said: “The man was lying with his face up and there was blood on his head and face.” “Police found two hunting rifles, ammunition, clothes, water, whiskey and pajamas in the deceased’s [pick up truck]. It looks like he was on his way to go hunting.”

“The motive for the attack and the subsequent murder is unknown at this stage,”

Environmentalist Twitter page Xpose Trophy Killing shared an image of Naude, as well as a link to a Maroela Media report, the independent Afrikaans-language media house that broke the story.

If one is looking for a motive, one would likely start with the Twitter account Xpose Trophy Killing, which shows the true horrors of this “sport”. Again, murder simply cannot be justified. But man, karma does seem to work sometimes.

There is not much more to say. Who knows whether he will be missed. He won’t be missed by some of the world’s most majestic animals.

Twitter obviously put in their two cents, and a warning, some of these photos are graphic and very difficult to look at:
