AR-15s to Be Stored in NC County Schools to Protect Against Mass Shootings

So we have officially entered a period where people “exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights” so often and so gruesomely that our schools – our schools (!), must be “hardened” with weapons, like an outpost just a few miles back from the front lines. A North Carolina Sheriff’s department has determined that it will place an AR-15 inside every school in their county. Schools are the “frontlines” in America and must be militarized.

When the Founders wrote, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary… ” it would have been unfathomable to them that someday, this country would need a weapon with the firepower of 50 of the biggest muskets available at the time, all used in unison (minimum), not because they’re “necessary to the security of a free state,” but because they’re necessary to a secure grade school.

When it comes to abortion, the SCOTUS is an originalist court. When it comes to guns? We get this from Ashville Citizen-Times:

In response to the Texas school shooting that left 19 children dead May 24, a local school system and Sheriff’s Office are rolling out some beefed up security measures in 2022-23, including putting AR-15 rifles in every school.

Madison County Schools and Madison County Sheriff’s Office are collaborating to enhance security in the schools for the upcoming school year.

Stop here as one’s jaw drops. Uvalde didn’t become “Uvalde” due to the lack of AR-15s available. A combination of an 18-year-old kid, nicknamed “School Shooter” online, in combination with law enforcement that was negligent to reckless at best. At worst, Uvalde unfolded as it did because law enforcement was unwilling to put themselves at risk to save mostly brown kids.

“Those officers were in that building for so long, and that suspect was able to infiltrate that building and injure and kill so many kids,” Sheriff Buddy Harwood said. “I just want to make sure my deputies are prepared in the event that happens. We were able to put an AR-15 rifle and safe in all of our schools in the county.”

If we are going to allow the average 18-year-old to walk into a store and buy assault rifles with 500 rounds of ammunition, and – evidently, we are, then it only makes sense to put an AR-15 in the trunk of every patrol car. Is there a legitimate basis to trust every cop with an AR-15? No. But more so than the average teenager.

One’s first reaction to hearing that every single school would be “hardened” with a locked up AR-15 is sadness, which then transitions into a combination of wonder and rage, and ultimately one fades into acceptance. Of course, this is exactly what the gun manufacturers wanted all along, entirely foreseeable, a society so fixated on the most gruesome guns that it borders on mass psychosis, such that – now, we’re publicly buying guns to protect us from the privately sold guns to the very same public.

It would be worth getting a picture of the delivery of the gun to each school; so symbolic. Kids outside at recess, a police car pulling up to carry a new, boxed, $3,000 AR-15. Gun manufacturers make billions selling that boxed gun to militaries around the world. In the U.S., they make more, selling them to nearly anyone 18 and up. Inevitably and entirely foreseeably, some of those immature or sick private citizens use that same military machine to mow down kids exactly like the ones playing outside at recess. The cycle is complete. A military machine is sold to the public such that it’s now necessary to militarize our schools. The blood money piles up in the offices of gun manufacturers

“Mass psychosis.”
