DOJ Reporter: Three New Sealed Files in Trump Warrant Docket — Something BIG is Happening
Sarah Lynch covers the Justice Department for Reuters news service. There couldn’t possibly be a more impeccable source as to the docket sheet in the Florida court under the case file for Trump’s warrants. Lynch said that there are three new sealed entries in the docket, all filed today, just this afternoon, the Monday after last Monday’s search, and the first Monday after the search warrant and the receipt of documents were released.
It is very tempting to speculate.
Perhaps it’s best to set out the rule regarding sealed documents:
Parties must file a Motion for Leave to File Under Seal and obtain leave of court to file a Sealed Document or a Sealed Motion, unless the document is a responsive filing to a motion or document already filed under seal.
That’s a tough one because the warrants are no longer under seal. The affidavits remain sealed, and thus there could be a standing order that any document responsive to the earlier ones is automatically under seal. The only other exceptions that could be considered would be a “pen register, trap or trace” device or motions for more search warrants.

So there are three possibilities. The government is filing something either pertaining to the earlier search warrant – perhaps an indictment and motion for an arrest warrant (though that’s pure speculation), perhaps a “trace” motion to track his phone or electronic communications, or a search and seizure. That’s it. Those are the three possibilities. Number one is the most likely, by far – but it is not at all proof that an indictment has been handed down by the grand jury.
Regardless, there are three new entries in Trump’s case and they’re all sealed and thus not mundane:
Hmmm. A sealed docket entry was just made on the docket for the Trump warrant… 08/15/2022 SYSTEM ENTRY – Docket Entry 55 restricted/sealed until further notice. (jmd) (Entered: 08/15/2022)

Interesting is all we can say. Yes, it would be great to know what’s filed in the court system.
People on Twitter are going nuts guessing what it means:
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he posts about his passport within hours of these sealed docket submissions. He knows he’s about to be indicted and he’s flipping out.
