Lawyer Says Trump Suggesting That the FBI Planted Evidence Means That He is GUILTY

Former President Donald Trump is continuing his usual attacks on the FBI in the aftermath of Monday’s raid at Mar-a-Lago, even going so far as to suggest federal agents may have been “planting” evidence as they conducted their search at his Florida home.

And some legal experts are raising suspicions about that, saying the fact that he’s claiming this only adds further weight to their speculations that he may be guilty, Newsweek reports.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump lambasted the FBI and complained that “Obama and Clinton were never ‘raided,’ despite big disputes!”

“The FBI and others from the Federal Government would not let anyone, including my lawyers, be anywhere near the areas that were rummaged and otherwise looked at during the raid on Mar-a-Lago,” Trump complained. “Everyone was asked to leave the premises, they wanted to be left alone, without any witnesses to see what they were doing, taking, or hopefully not, ‘planting.'”

Former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski knows what he thinks about Trump’s comments.

“Nothing could confirm Trump’s guilt more than this statement this morning suggesting the FBI planted evidence,” he posted on Twitter Wednesday.

“He got caught and he knows it. This is what guilty people say,” he added. “Expect this to be the new talking point.”

But as you might expect, some Trumpy Republicans are feeling sorry for him and are supporting his claims.

“I think there is an extremely high probability that the FBI planted ‘evidence’ against President Trump,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted Wednesday. “Otherwise WHY would they NOT allow his attorneys or anyone watch them while they conducted their unprecedented raid? They know the consequences of any empty-handed power move.”

Michael Steele, former chair of the Republican National Committee blasted Trump’s allies for amplifying his baseless claims. He noted it only took three hours for Trump’s comments to fire up his supporters.

“Republicans publicly complaining that evidence was planted on Trump (incredulously by FBI that worked so hard to elect the man) means dude knows there’s a lot of evidence to find,” posted economist David Rothschild on Twitter. “That is not the propaganda of an innocent person.”

Former assistant U.S. attorney Richard Signorelli also had some sharp words for Trump’s attorney who suggested the FBI planted evidence.

“These are baseless lies but unfortunately will be believed by deranged, ignorant MAGA cult members. Lawyers should not lie or deceive ever,” he wrote in a tweet.

Earlier Wednesday, Trump announced he invoked the Fifth Amendment during his deposition with New York Attorney General Letitia James, claiming he had “absolutely no choice” but to protect himself from self-incrimination.

“Innocent people don’t plead the 5th and don’t accuse the DOJ of planting evidence,” noted political analyst Brian Karem.

So it’s good to see Trump’s proverbial chickens coming home to roost. Suddenly his future looks bleaker, and he has no one to blame but himself.
