Melania Trump’s Stylist Says He Received $60,000 From Trump’s PAC — But it Was Not for Clothes

If you’re wondering if this seems a little iffy, well yes. It does: It seems that Hervé Pierre, Melania Trump’s former stylist is now responding to a recent report that the Save America Pac paid him $60,000 in four separate payments for “strategy consulting,” which is a well, ambiguous, but was apparently for work he did that was unrelated to his official work, Women’s Wear Daily reports.

Pierre said the money isn’t related to anything he did while Donald Trump was in office. And he also said the money wasn’t tied to his fashion work.

WWD reports that he does consult with Melania from time to time regarding her fashion choices. But it only adds up to about five percent of his work for her, Pierre said.

“As with every other first lady, there is an after the White House life, which involves many other aspects than fashion,” Pierre said. “I am lucky to have worked in prestigious houses, to have designed [costumes] for ballets and more recently to work in home decor. There are many upcoming projects in this after the White House [Stage.]”

He added, “it is a great honor for me and it is very creative to give my viewpoint on some of these projects.” One thing he didn’t comment on was whether there was a presidential library in the works.

But with the way Trump is, I’d expect perhaps a presidential McDonald’s. Just considering his personality after all.

Pierre now says home decor is “his other job now,” and he noted “overall, it’s not as much about fashion any longer, as I [have] closed our atelier.”

Melania Trump’s office, in a statement to WWD, said: “Mr. Pierre is a world-renowned artist. His work extends to many different fields, not just fashion design. His expertise is utilized for special projects and events.”

And of course, while she was the first lady, many of Melania’s outfits attracted plenty of attention. But one outfit notoriously hit a sour note with Americans — the infamous “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” Zara jacket she donned during an appearance at the New Hope Children’s Shelter, in McAllen, Texas in 2018. People were understandably offended by this and Melania received some well-deserved flak for this insensitive move.

WWD notes that the FEC “does not allow candidate committees, which are formed to raise money for a specific candidate, to spend money on personal items, including clothing.”

But rules like this have rarely kept the Trump family from sliding by. I’ve never seen such a bunch of grifters. I’m sure they’d find a way to get around this if they wanted.
